| | Windows Live Mail and Photos How do I stop Windows Live Mail from embedding a photo in the body of the message. I just want to send the jpg file as an attachment but WLM always displays the picture in the message which increases the size of the email. |

| | Re: Windows Live Mail and Photos I've tried that, it goes in as an attachment (without appearing to have been embedded) and I send the email. When I look at it in the Sent Items WLM has embedded the photo into the message as well as retaining the attachment. The recipient also sees it in the message as well as an attachment. The email is much bigger than just the jpg file that was sent. | | Re: Windows Live Mail and Photos Gary, Then please explain why a 1.47Mb picture becomes a 2.06Mb email. In my old Outlook the email size was approximately the same size as the attached jpg file. However, you appear to be correct because I have just tried sending the picture renamed to .old, the picture did not display in the email and the email size was still 2.06Mb (the email size still doesn't make sense though). | | Re: Windows Live Mail and Photos Encoding overhead adds about 40%. So your message size is right on target. I don't know how Outlook managed to send a picture without the overhead since it uses the same Base64 encoding. Unless perhaps Outlook was automatically reducing the image quality/size before attaching. | | Re: Windows Live Mail and Photos Ah yes you are correct. I thought by embedded you meant that reduced size that can be inserted from the add photos feature. It does appear in the sent message body in full size. | | Re: Windows Live Mail and Photos Gary: I have a problem with one of my friends that sends me emails ( mostly forwarded pics and jokes ) without a .jpg or .gif attachment but all that shows up is a outline box where the photo should be and a big red X. Is this a "feature of the viewing email program" (mine being Windows Live Mail Version 2008 (Build 12.0.1606)? Is this a setting with my WLM or a problem on his end with his email client? Thanks "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: Quote: > Whether a JPG attachment is displayed or not is a feature of the > viewing email program.
