| | Another Windows Live Mail bug... Time to review where to send these; but, for now, this will do. Windows Live Mail, as MS Outlook Express before it, ignores dashes in a computer name; thus: | Windows IP Configuration | | Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : KOZUE-001-A1 | Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : | Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Mixed | IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No | WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No | DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : aosake.net Although there are dashes in the computer name, as shown above, when sending from Windows Live Mail, the client ignores those dashes in the "EHLO" string; thus: | Received: from KOZUE001A1 ([192.168.102.34]) by kozue.aosake.net with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.2600.5512); | Sun, 8 Jun 2008 07:18:28 -0700 | Message-ID: <8CF01E608B3A4BE09E46BF05CDF12D28@xxxxxx> | X-Mailer: Microsoft Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606 This is carried over from MS Outlook Express: | Received: from KOZUE001A1 ([192.168.102.34]) by kozue.aosake.net with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.2600.5512); | Sun, 8 Jun 2008 07:09:57 -0700 | Message-ID: <7E1116CC389C4014BB453A12E54CFB05@xxxxxx> | X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.5512 Just a minor annoyance; but, if MSFT is going to fix things, they should be able to fix this. (FWIW I seem to recall somebody complaining that they couldn't get the domain name they really wanted because of this limitation.) BTW I haven't tried to look up the appropriate RFC to validate this guess... ; ) --- |
