| | Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) not working Having problems with Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) in Windows Live Mail -- they don't work. The only bypass I know of is to use F3 to look at headers can copy from there. In Outlook Express this was a problem if any search was invoked whether it was in OE (Ctrl+Shift+F) or a Windows search. I'm not in either in WLM and I have the problem. Using Windows Vista Home Basic. -- David McRitchie, Microsoft MVP -- Excel My Excel Pages: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/excel.htm |

| | Re: Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) not working Are you saying that they don't work anywhere in Windows Live Mail, or that they aren't working in some specific situations? They work fine for me. I use them all the time. I recall under OE, in some cases, copying from a message properties didn't work with Ctrl+C. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't and I never did nail down any differences on that. But when that happens, a workaround is to right click the highlighted text and then select Copy. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "David McRitchie" <dmcritchie_xlmvp@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:eddtY7XyIHA.1436@xxxxxx Quote: > Having problems with Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) in Windows Live > -- they don't work. | | Re: Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) not working Hi Michael, Thanks Right click selected text and use "Copy" from the main context menu works, and will be what I use as a bypass. Thought I had tried that, seems I saw it and didn't use it., or only used it once. Seems after doing that , that Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V are working again, perhaps that was why it was hard to remember, after all Copy from Edit menu used to work, and that too works again. So I may only have to do that once each time it actually gets stuck and of course remember. | | Re: Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) not working I've had the same issue. The short cut keys just stop working in WLM. They continue to work in other apps. I am using XPSP2 and use the context menu "Copy" which is working for anything in the message body, or Ctrl+F3 then Ctrl+C to pick up from headers. I spoke prematurely when I said using "Copy" from the context (right-click) menu also seemed to make Ctrl+C work again in WLM -- that effect didn't last long. If you missed Robert's reply, possibly you don't have your WLM set up to view threaded conversations. View, Current View, [x] View by Conversation |

| | Re: Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) not working I have had similar problem if I send message without a subject, WLMail asks if I want to send, I respond no, I put cursor in subject, I type but keystrokes fall into bitbucket. So I enter subject into body of mail/message, then cut using ctl/X, then I put cursor into subject and type ctl/V - nothing, but right click Paste or use the Paste button on my Office keyboard and hey voila, the subject I typed into message body is there in the subject. -- TUT WLMail (was WLM Deskop), Windows Live Hotmail (WLH) (was Windows Live Mail) Windows Live Messenger (WLM) (not to be confused with Windows Messenger (vanilla) __________________________________________ "David McRitchie" <dmcritchie_xlmvp@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:eddtY7XyIHA.1436@xxxxxx Quote: > Having problems with Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) in Windows Live > -- they don't work. | | Re: Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) not working Yes, but that is as disruptive as Forwarding (Ctrl+F), or looking in the headers (Ctrl+F3), or looking at HTML (Ctrl+F2) from an email/newspost. Make selection in original as you would for Ctrl+C, then right-click and use "Copy" from the context menu as was described by Michael Santovec at the beginning of this thread. Thanks again to Michael works like a charm.
