| Newbie Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Changing Font Size to Print I have tried the following techniques: Ctrl + the mouse scroll to make the font bigger Page>Font>Sizes View>Font>Sizes and the printer does not seem to be able to read it when printing on my computer that has Vista. On my second home computer, my printer reads the font sizes fine, but on the one with Vista, it's constantly at about a size 6 or 7. What am I doing wrong? Is it the printer? How else can I change the font size so I can print my emails and such and actually be able to read them without squinting? |

| Guest | Re: Changing Font Size to Print Hi, ICECanada. I can't really answer your question, but maybe I can at least point you in the right direction. As you may recall, OE (Outlook Express) was originally a part of IE (Internet Explorer). In fact, the original name for OE was Microsoft Internet Mail & News; that's why the OE executable still has the name, msimn.exe. And the several generations of OE have all used the settings in IE for some of their functions - and the printer fonts are one of those shared functions. So why is that important to your question? WLM is a significant rewrite of msimn.exe, but I believe it still shares the printer font settings with IE. We can change our on-screen fonts in WLM, but to change the printed output, we have to find the right spot in IE and adjust it there. And it is a non-intuitive location in IE - which I can't remember at the moment. Perhaps some true guru can enlighten both of us. While waiting, you might Google for font +printer +express; I got 240,000 hits just now! This one looks helpful, although I haven't tried it: http://email.about.com/od/outlookexp...t/et112305.htm RC -- R. C. | Guest | Re: Changing Font Size to Print To expand on what R. C. White has said: The print size in WLM is set by the DISPLAYED FONT size in Internet Explorer. Yes, unbelievable thought it is, if you want to alter the print size in WLM (or OE), you have to go to IE7 and use Page | Text Size and set it there. It is completely mad, and for some reason has persisted since the earliest days of OE and IE. SteveT |
