mail with large attacments a sent again and again

Hi,
I have to complain about the same problem than Wofgang Z. (2/26/2008)
When I use WLM the amils with large attachments are sent again and again !!!
When I use OE to sent the same mail it behaves absolutly normally, only ONE
TIME !!!
I have installed WLM ~ 2-3 weeks ago as OE will not longer be compatible
with Hotmail.
Since I have endless troubles.
I would be very happy if somebody could help me to resolve this problem.
Thanks in advance.
regards from Bavaria

Re: mail with large attacments a sent again and again

Thanks Ron for the quick answer,
Point 1:
I can only find "Tools, Accounts, Properties", than I have the following
choice: «General», «Server», «Connection» and «Savety» (translated from
german).
I could not find "Advanced", and "Break apart messages". This is perhaps
due to my German OS and soft, could it be so?
Point 2:
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 is installed. I have now changed the mail
protection from "incoming and outgoing mails" to "only incoming mails".
I will inform you when I have tested the modified setting.

Re: mail with large attacments a sent again and again

I have tested the modified settings of the Anti-Virus. I have noticed no
change.
The mail remains in the Outbox (even when the mail was received by the
addressee).
The mail which has been sent was not in the "Transmitted objects" from
Hotmail.
I have shifted the mail into a local folder to avoid to send it again and
again, ....
After writing this complementary information I have again looked in the
"Transmitted objects" from Hotmail, => the mail is now in the "Transmitted
objects" from Hotmail.

Re: mail with large attacments a sent again and again

The photo file with which I made the test after modification of the settings
from KAV7 to "only incoming mails" was 3.6 Mb.
When I encountered the first "repetead sending" with the original settings
from KAV7(protectiom for "incoming and outgoing mails"), I had attached 4
photos, total 3.4Mb.

I have not tested an other type of files, I will make a test with a PDF
file, KAV7 protection "only incoming mails" and inform you about the
behaviour.

Re: mail with large attacments a sent again and again

I just round tripped 48 Mb through KAV7, scanning out and scanning in - no
problems

So it is probably not the mail scanning

Which brings us back to the Account Settings

When you looked, did you look in your main mail account, the default may
have been the current account which I suspect might have been your news
account.

Image of the advanced settings for my main mail account is here
http://www.mediafire.com/?hjbm9yvcmfn

its in englische, but I'm sure you can work it out

Re: mail with large attacments a sent again and again

Now I have some results after complementary tests (KAV7 setting "only
incoming mails").
Different file types size < 1.43 MB (biggest <> jpeg) can be sent without
troubles.

When I tried again the 3.6 MB jpeg I encountered again the "usual failure"
which I described before. This time I saw that a failure has been detected by
WLM. This warning was certainly also shown but unfortunately I did non
detected it.
I tried to find out how to open it and here is the indicated failure:

« No messages could be sent or received for the Hotmail account »
-Indication of the concern-
« Windows Live Mail Error number (failure number) 0x80191002 »

I hope this information may help to find the origin

fred2stroke

PS: I have installed WLM as recommended by Microsoft to replace OE as it
will no more be possible to use OE beyond End of June . I did not expect that
so much time would be necessary in order to understand why it does not work
properly. I still hope that a NORMAL operating will be reached promptly !!!

Re: mail with large attacments a sent again and again

Thanks again Urban for this information.

In between (after complementary test and verifications) I can clearly state
the following:

a) for my hotmail account I don't have the advanced settings,
b) these settings are shown for an other account (IMAP) that I installed (in
conjunction with other accounts for my correspondents) at the hosting of a
site for an old-timer rally in order to evade the problems from SMTP servers
from Orange (which sometimes "forgot the mails during several days").
c) the problem with big attachments seems to be specific to my hotmail
account. (very strange, WLM is recommended by Microsoft as replacement for OE
WHICH WILL NOT CONTINUE TO WORK WITH HOTMAIL)
d) Used with a not Hotmail account WLM works without problems, this has been
confirmed (the same mail, which fails using the Hotmail account, works
normally when I send it using the other account).

And now what can I do now, my Hotmail account is my standard mail account ???

Regards from Bavaria,

fred2stroke

Re: mail with large attacments a sent again and again

What I can tell you is that you are not the only person on the planet with
this problem - however the other reference I've found is with Windows Mail,
that's the Mail program in Vista, which is not WLMail and nor is it OE -
welcome to the MS Mail Jigsaw puzzle.

My understanding is that when mail is sent it goes via the SMTP server you
have nominated. The SMTP server is independent of your mail box type -
POP3, IMAP or DeltaSynch. The latter is what WLMail uses to get mail from
your hotmail account, but I don't think it uses Delta Synch to send mail.

Can I ask that you confirm some things - I need to make sure my feeble brain
understands what it is you want to do.

your Internet Service Provider is Orange
you want to send jpegs from your pc using WLM
you want the mail containing the jpegs to carry your hotmail address

Also can you try sending the jpegs from your hotmail account using Windows
Live Hotmail via your web browser

This will help us

a) confirm that it is not a restriction being imposed by Hotmail
b) it takes your ISP and WLM out of the loop

You might want to try putting in a support request to MS on this one, this
link should take you to the MS Live help site where you can do that.
https://support.live.com/eform.aspx?...top&ct=eformts

In the mean time I'll read the references to the error message that you got

WLMail (was WLM Deskop),
Windows Live Hotmail (WLH) (was Windows Live Mail)
Windows Live Messenger (WLM) (not to be confused with Windows Messenger
