GROUPS IN CONTACTS LIST

I'm using Windows Live Mail with Windows Vista.

When I try to create a new Contacts group (or add to an existing Contacts
group), the 'Select contacts ...' list that is provided shows First name
Last name *OR* Nickname. If there is a Nickname, the First name Last Name
does not appear. I have used the Nickname field for identification purposes
(eg, TMG for all those in my local TMG user group, Vets for all those in the
Veterans Cycling Club, etc), so that there are many people with the same
Nickname. I did try using Middle name for this identification purpose but
that's no good, as WLM will not allow you to use Middle name as a column in
the 'Find a contact ...' list -- why that particular field is not available
when just about every other one is, I cannot imagine.

What I would really like to be able to do is for the 'Select contacts ...'
list to have Last name First name (note the different order) in one column
and Nickname in an adjacent column. Is this possible?

I know I can use the 'Find a contact ...' list, select the contacts I want
in a group, and R click to copy the contacts to the desired group. But why
can't the 'Select contacts ...' list be more like (or even the same as) the
'Find a contact ...' list?
