File Menu(s)

Is here a way to keep the File menus displayed? Currently, I have to always
press the "Alt" key to get it to display.

Yes, click the Show Menu button, then "Show all menus".
If you can't find that button, it is on the toolbar to the left of
the circled question mark.

I personally prefer to keep the vertical real estate for more message
lines.
