Why when I receive a new email it shows up in unread emails at the top of the
panel, but does not show up in my inbox? Will not show up as a new email in
my inbox or on my screen in bold, until I click the unread email box. This
is very confusing. What do I need to do to correct it and make it work
correctly?

Yes, I have had the same experience. I also have an email alert to inform
me when new email arrives. There have been times when I have received the
alert and there was no email. Or as you wrote, sometimes I must click the
inbox to find it.

In any event, I figure it is just one of those idiosyncratic kink some of
these programs have that no one can figure out.
