Shouldn't Downloads New Messages

This week I installed the system and it seems very good except that every so
often it downloads new messages when I haven't told it to. I check with
Mailwasher first. I have the same settings as OE where it doesn't download
automatically etc. Is there another option I should alter? Thanks for any
advice.

Re: Shouldn't Downloads New Messages

I see that occasionally.

One thing that seems to trigger that is if my dial-up connection has
been disconnected and I reconnect while WLM is open to a newsgroup, that
triggers downloading mail. That shouldn't happen. But for me it's not
a big deal.

Re: Shouldn't Downloads New Messages

Hello,

This may help. Go to Tools, select Options, under General, you will see
Send/Receive Messages. Try unchecking send/receive messages at startup.
Here you can also choose how often your messages are downloaded.

When I am ready to receive more messages, I click send/receive on the toolbar.

I hope this have been of some help.

Re: Shouldn't Downloads New Messages

No that was the first thing I checked thanks. It appears to be a bug,
something to do with checking newsgroups I think. I am thinking of going
back to OE till the system is working properly

Re: Shouldn't Downloads New Messages

I don't Send/receive at start up or every xx minutes checked. Never
have.

I always do manual send/receive.

But once in a while, while working in newsgroups, WLM will receive mail.

I do have send immediately selected, but that should cause a receive.

Re: Shouldn't Downloads New Messages

Is the account that receives mail under that scenario a
HTTP (Hotmail) account? Those seem to listen to a different
drummer.

Re: Shouldn't Downloads New Messages

So much for that theory.
I haven't experienced your issue because I have WLM configured
to do an automatic download every 5 minutes.

Re: Shouldn't Downloads New Messages

Echoing Michael...it 'magically' downloads http mail here too with all auto options disabled.

I can't recreate it manually, but the above also seems to be related to a refresh of the current where viewable read messages are
cleared.

Re: Shouldn't Downloads New Messages

In my case I have 2 POP3 accounts, no HTTP or IMAP.

It doesn't happen often, but it does once in a while.
