Is there any great trouble with Microsoft update servers????

Due to my serious trouble with mail sending using Live Mail,
I finally decided to use XP pro instead of bundled OEM home edition
(corporate licences of Pro edition).
So I removed previous XP home and clean-installed XP Pro today morning.
Now, I have only WIndows XP in my new computer which is updated to SP3.
Absolutely nothing else.

AND THEN!! Nightmare started.
EVERY UPDATES fail to install including live mail & messenger after that. (I
mean, it worked before I applied SP3)
XP's own firewall is OFF now and I have no AV, no application installed.
Just XP Pro + hardware drivers.
I have used manual installation for windows patches searching individual
code except root certificate something because I do not know its correct KB
code.
However, Live Mail does not have a link for full download, and it gives me
just one simple word, - failure - without giving me any hint.
Internet connection is super fine. Don't worry about it. I am posting this
message here.

I am going crazy now.... Oh my precious 4 hours...... f..k

Kevin.

Re: Is there any great trouble with Microsoft update servers????

Updates and also Live Mail and Messenger installations worked before installing SP3 on a clean Sp2 system ?

The Root Certificate update afaik is not available as a stand-alone installer.

WLM is not available as a separate msi or exe installation file.
- For future reference---prior to formatting, the online get.live installer placed the WLM Msi file on the XPSp2 machine in the
following hidden folder
C:\Program Files\Common Files\WindowsLiveInstaller\MsiSources

Windows Live Applications MSI Installation Files

Re: Is there any great trouble with Microsoft update servers????

Sorry forgot to include this piece of info on Windows Updates
Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a
Windows XP installation:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

NB: Also applies to clean installs, upgrade installs, and Recovery installs.

Re: Is there any great trouble with Microsoft update servers????

Yes, updates worked before SP3.
Live Mail was tried after SP3 and it simply fails including every other
update.

This is crazy...

Re: Is there any great trouble with Microsoft update servers????

Not sure why.... WLM is functional here post Sp3 on two systems, and also on Vista SP1.

You might consider downloading the latest the Windows Update agent files.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946928/

Installing via the command mode:

Re: Is there any great trouble with Microsoft update servers????

My God!! You saved me!
This one worked like magic.

regsvr32 %windir%\system32\wups2.dll
(ref: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144)

Now everything runs fine. Root certificate update is applied, Windows Live
applications are also installed without error.

Thanks a lot!!

Kevin
