Font won't change.

I changed the font and font size in Tools/Options/Compose tab for both email
and newsgroups but I don't see any change. What should I try next?

Re: Font won't change.

Hi, McGyver.

Have you tried the font settings at the bottom of Tools | Options | Read?

Not guaranteed to do what you expect. Font settings in OE/WM/WLM are
sometimes straightforward - sometimes mysterious! :^{

Re: Font won't change.

Which font do you want to change:
When you read a plain text message.
When you compose a plain text message.
When you compose a HTML message?

By any chance are you running the IE8 beta? It has a bug that
prevents font changes in WLM.

Hi McGyver;
I'm new to this "newsgroup" way of finding help & have been at it for hours & my question was exactly the same as yours & I did the same as you without any results. Will try to find my way back here & hope for an answer in a couple of days. Good luck to us both, eh!

Re: Font won't change.

I changed the font to "Larger" in Tool/Options/Read. That changed the font
to larger not only when Reading messages but also when composing. So that
solved the problem. Strange result, but I'm satisfied with it. I can't
think of a reason I would ever want a different size or font when reading
than the one I like when composing.

Thanks, R.C.

Gary: Nope. My version of IE is 7.

Welcome to the group, Monique.

Re: Font won't change.

Thanks for reply Gary. I'm afraid I didn't communicate my problem very well. I did look at all of McGyver's responses & I had done all that he had done, with the same success. My "problem", or question is,"How do you change the font to change the printing of the message of the e-mail"? I can change fonts from Word, why not from Windows Mail, or can I? Sorry for the confusion. Please help. I cannot even read the print, it's so small & I have everything set to the largest. Sincerely, Monique

Re: Font won't change.

Printing issues are actually quite different from display issues.
Windows Mail uses the printing engine that is part of Internet
Explorer (IE). So, if you want something printed in a larger font,
go to IE7's toolbar, click Page, Text Size, Medium (or Larger),
then print from Windows Mail. You may want to change IE's text
size back to normal when you are done printing.

Re: Font won't change.

Thanks Gary, but it didn't work - the print is still so small it's not readable. Now, I'm not talking about a simple e-mail message, they're OK, but I can't print anything off the internet. Why? I'm sure we'll get there sooner or later. Sincerely, Monique

Re: Font won't change.

When you say you can't print anything from the Internet,
I assume that includes web pages viewed in Internet Explorer.
Printing in WLM is not going to work properly until the IE printing
problem is solved. For the latter, you'll find experts in the
newsgroup microsoft.public.windows.vista.print_fax_scan.
