Hi, TUT.
Right-click the news Account (in the Folders list), click Properties, and
put a check in the box at the bottom of the first page, "Include this
account when checking for new messages".
Note that this is a per-Account setting. You'll also want to check the
synchronization settings for each newsgroup within the account.

Within the context of windows software the words options, settings,
properties and settings at least are used are to describe the same thing -
control variables. It would be impossible to get the entire industry to
settle on a single word, but you'd think Mucrosift could - if not across all
products then at least within the same product.
Within each software application we need a single interface to all the
control variables, rather than have them scattered confetti like on every
surface and in every corner of each and every application.

Mmmm -
Getting messages like this -
http://share-online.biz/download.php?id=F1891BAF2
news.giganews.com is a secure server, it's probably why I had the "Include
this account when checking for new messages" control variable turned off on
the account.
I might trying lodging a defect notice to Redmond - I just discovered where

Sorry, that web site won't let me see the picture, and prefers to
show me a popup I don't need to see.
Windows Live Mail Desktop was the name used for what's now
known as Windows Live Mail a few versions ago. Are you sure
you have the latest version?

Sorry about that, just looked at with IE - OUCH! Not so bad with FX and
NoScript.
Soon as I get Fx working again I'll delete, if I can find the link - most
stuff is out of action right now,

Hi, TUT.
You're welcome. And don't worry about "a bit late". My computer was dead
for a week of that time so I was "off the air" anyhow, and now the left
button on my mouse has stopped working. A warranty replacement is on the
way, but that will take a week or so. In the meantime, I'm doing a 2-Mouse
2-Step using this fancy mouse and an older one: scroll with this one, then
click with the other. :>{ No fun!

gDay RC White,
interesting coincidence - see my first post in "opening links" post on 18
July - whilst I was joking you were living the reality
Why would you not buy an el-cheapo mouse ($8.00 here) whilst awaiting
replacement, are you in remote location - CPA's normally live in town.
hope your mouse turns up soon, get the cat to drive of one of the mice
