Vista - problems sending/receving hotmail email in mail live

Hi all, hope somebody can help, when i try to download/send email to my
hotmail account it comes up with this error
Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail account.

Server Response: An error has occurred.
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8004108D
Protocol: NNTP
Port: 0
Secure(SSL): No

i'm using a 3 uk hsdpa modem on a laptop & can check my other email accounts
no problem , i'm signed into live messenger and showing up online, is it a
temp problem or my connection thx

That doesn't look like the type of error message one would
expect to see from a Hotmail account. For one thing, Hotmail
accounts use HTTP, not NNTP protocol.

Thx for the quick answer, just upgraded to service pack 3 and the problem
seems to have gone away for now thx again

I, like my colleague, is glad to here that it is functioning again, yet I am not aware of any SP3 update that fixes mail funneled
through a newsgroup(nntp) protocol or errored as if sent through an nntp protocol.

What you may find is that message may appear for a Hotmail account if you've WLM set to check for messages every 'xx' minutes....if
enabled try disabling it.
Also, if you've migrated your account from OE, ensure the account is using the DeltaSync server(found in the email account's
properties Server tab).

If you are using a cable or dsl connection, ensure the email account's properties Connection setting is 'checked' to use this
connection.

If I may ask was IE8 beta ever installed on this machine ?
