Facing issues while adding RSS Feeds

Hi

I am facing an issue with adding feeds to Windows Live.

On http://www.byte.com/
if we look on the left hand side, we would see a link which says RSS FEED
XML

The URL for RSS FEED is
http://syndication.sdmediagroup.com/...ublic/byte.xml

I open Windows Live.
On the Left Navigation, click on Feeds
Click on Add a feed
In the URL enter http://syndication.sdmediagroup.com/...ublic/byte.xml
and click on OK

I encounter an error that
http://syndication.sdmediagroup.com/...ublic/byte.xml is not a valid RSS
Feed

I have noticed this issue happening on multiple RSS feeds? Some do work
though!!

Is there something wrong with Windows Live? Or am I doing it wrong?
I am new to RSS feeds!!

Re: Facing issues while adding RSS Feeds

No, what you are doing is correct.
The problem with the RSS Feed you point out however is the rdf syntax :-
<rdf:RDF xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#"
xmlns="http://my.netscape.com/rdf/simple/0.9/">

WLM will not handle this type of RSS feed. You'll also notice that IE 7
won't handle it either.

Re: Facing issues while adding RSS Feeds

To add to Colin's advice, if IE7 is installed visit the feed source site using IE7, click on the Feeds Icon(located on the Command
Bar, icon can be added if not present) to view 'Available Feeds on this Page'

e.g. Using the above IE7 approach for byte.com yields
'Internet Explorer does not support this feed format.'

Re: Facing issues while adding RSS Feeds

Hi

Thanks for your mails

From the replies, it appears that WLM does not support this format of RSS.

I am not to keen in installing another RSS client!
Are you aware of any plug-in/add in/something which would allow WLM to
support this format of RSS?
Or maybe there is a configuration settings or maybe a registry tweaking?

IE7 doesn't support it.

Re: Facing issues while adding RSS Feeds

Hi

This question was originated in the Windows Live mail newsgroup
I was wondering if someone in the Windows Vista group might have a solution
for me? Especially for the Register tweak/ configuration setting
possibility.

Re: Facing issues while adding RSS Feeds

It is an IE7 compatibility issue, not an XP or Vista.
There is no tweak for IE7 to support an RSS format it does not recognize.
