| Guest | WLM has stopped working - won't open WLM has been my favorite way to check e-mail for a long time and suddenly about two days ago it's stopped working. I'm running Vista Home Premium 32bit on a laptop. I've tried reinstalling WLM countless times, I've cleaned my files out and everything. What happens is that when I click to open it it gets stuck on the "signing in" preloader (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v324/ms_dwa/WLM.png). It's listed in task manager, but it never gets out of the signing in cycle. I've left it running for hours before just to see if it would ever get to my e-mail but it hasn't. It's never had problems before and I haven't had any weird crashes lately. It worked perfectly fine until one morning. I've had to switch over to Outlook Express, which seems to work fine as well if that's of any relevance. Please help! Thanks, Bridget |

| Guest | Re: WLM has stopped working - won't open Hi Bridget. I can't be sure why your WLMail is having a problem signing in/opening, but you can edit the registry to stop WLMail from signing in when it is opened next time. If the problem is solely with WLMail failing to sign in, then it should open correctly after applying this registry edit*: Open regedit (Start [button]->Run...->regedit [typed]->OK [button]) Browse to the Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail Delete the Value named 'Default User' *Before editing the registry, it is always advisable to 'export' the relevant registry key/s (from within regedit) for backup purposes and/or create a Restore Point using System Restore. -- Cheers, Peter.R (Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "Breeg" <Breeg@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:5AD40864-A015-4F7F-AC7F-9FD0AE4D4690@xxxxxx Quote: > WLM has been my favorite way to check e-mail for a long time and suddenly > about two days ago it's stopped working. Only if you need the same login under OE. Is it a Hotmail account for example? Otherwise a Live ID is irrelevant in OE. What would be relevant is whether you are able to use the same Live ID for other tasks on the same machine. E.g. then that might discount Cookies as a possible cause, which I suspect is the most likely one. Quote: > Please help! > > Thanks, > Bridget HTH Robert Aldwinckle --- |

| Guest | Re: WLM has stopped working - won't open Hi I had this same problem a month ago. Windows Mail would only open once. the only way I could use it more than once was to log off and on again. At the same time whenever I tried to delet a file or rename it, the dialog box with the progress bar would not close down. Eventually I wiped the hard disk and started again as nobody had an answer. All was well for a month but now it has started again exactly the same. I'd switched to Windows Live Mail in the meantime but now that won't open at all. Windows Mail will only open once and the progress bar box won't shut down if I delete or rename a file. Does anyone know what's going on?
