| Guest | Re: Windows Live Mail Automatic Backup When Compressing vs. Outlook Express Quick Backup Then there is the very useful OE backup software: Outlook Express Quick Backup <http://www.oehelp.com/> Downloadable here as freeware: <http://www.oehelp.com/OEBackup/Default.aspx> How much better, if any, is the backup capability in WLM than this OEQB? P.S. Note the CLEAN URL's. DSH Lux et Veritas et Libertas |

| Guest | Re: Windows Live Mail Automatic Backup When Compressing As I noted before: Thank you kindly. I prefer CLEAN URL's. No TIME to muck about looking for a message. It's just proper form and Good Manners to post a CLEAN URL -- sans shilly-shallying or importuning. Like this: <http://www.oehelp.com/> And: <http://www.oehelp.com/OEBackup/Default.aspx> "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare ----------------------------------------------------------------- [As quoted by Peter R.] Bingo! Note Bene. That's one of my favorites from _Hamlet_ too. No one couth ever shouts in Mory's -- nor am I shouting here. It's called EMPHASIS. Cheers, DSH Lux et Veritas et Libertas Vires et Honor |

FYI that news: link that Noel gave is as "clean" as you can get. If you can't use it the problem is with either your newsreader or your news server. Also, if you look up this thread on Google Groups you will find that it resolves news: links as links to other messages in its archive, but does not do the same for more explicit URLs (such as MS _non-standard_ news:// URL syntax.) (Exercise for reader...) Hmm.... normally that is the case and in fact Google Groups tried to find it for me. The problem in this particular case is that the post being cited contains an attachment and Google Groups frequently ignores posts with attachments. A huge difference in the amount of work for the poster, especially if he is finding it in his offline cache (which I suspect will be the case here.) Noel was giving you a link to another NNTP message which is currently available on the MSNEWS server's archive. Perfect form for providing links to current messages, particularly when a reader can be assumed to be using a real NNTP newsreader. Robert Aldwinckle --- |
