| Guest | Mail notification in Live Messenger Hi, Can you make Live Messenger show how many new e-mails you have in your Windows Live mail inbox? (i mean th little main icon on the messenger contact list page to show (x) after the icon (where x is the number of new e-mails) Regards, Pontus Eidemar |

| Guest | Re: Mail notification in Live Messenger WLMsgr, afaik, when signed on with a Live ID shows the new mails available in that same Live ID's available Hotmail Inbox. The messages in the Hotmail Inbox may not have been downloaded by WLM(manual send/receive, frequency of an auto-check, not opened, etc) Fyi.. | Guest | Re: Mail notification in Live Messenger I don't use hotmail. I'm using windows live mail (same live id and same e-mail as WLMsgr). Can you make WLMsgr show new e-mails in the WLM inbox? | Guest | Re: Mail notification in Live Messenger WLMsgr's email icon **reports new messages in the Live ID Inbox of an applicable Hotmail account(Hotmail.com, Msn.com, and/or Live.com domains).*** It accomplishes this task by syncing with the Hotmail server vs. WLM's inbox. If you have assigned a different email address(non Hotmail domain) to a Live ID, then no Hotmail inbox exists for WLMsgr to monitor/sync. - If the above applies to you("I don't use hotmail"), then the answer to your question is no. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Pontus Eidemar" <pontus.eidemar@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:95F22982-819A-499F-87FF-F8EADAFA9A49@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: Mail notification in Live Messenger Norman, I think that is different than what the op asked(or at least how the original questions an f/u Q's were asked) The op appears to want the mail icon in WLMsgr to inform the number of messages in the WLM LiveID's inbox. WLMsgr sync with Hotmail to find that 'count'. Even though WLM may be open, WLMsgr still syncs with the Hotmail server to determine the count of new messages(note new, not unread). It actually makes sense....one reason...since WLM may be not setup to automatically download messages, there a probably a slew of other reasons that WLMsgr/WLM users can suggest. Since it is Hotmail server sync based, use of another non Hotmail ID as Live ID doesn't sync(no Hotmail Inbox). There is a thread in this forum a few days ago(Choice of E-Mail Client in Windows Live Messenger) on what happens when clicking the mail icon in WLMsgr(opens Hotmail, Opens WLM and some constraints that impact it). See that... -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "N. Miller" <anonymous@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:jm889n17d5lx$.dlg@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: Mail notification in Live Messenger Ok. Yeah, what you wrote applies to me. Is there any way (like editing the windows registry or something) to make WLMsngr look for new e-mails in non hotmail domains email adresses?
