Default Email Address?

I have just installed Vista Home Premium and installed Live mail (as I prefer
it to Windows Mail)

I have about 14 email addresses that WLM helpfully sorts in the 'Folder Pane'.

When I reply to a message WLM uses my default email address to send the mail
rather than the address the 'inbox' is from.

On my old XP system it would always use the email address the email was sent
to rather than the default email.

How can I change this?

Many thanks, Gary

Re: Default Email Address?

For replies, WLM normally uses the email address associated with
the account that downloaded the original message. Is that not what
is happening with your WLM?

You can't change WLM's behavior in that regard. Before you click Send,
make sure the From address in the upper right corner of the compose
window is in fact the one you want.

Re: Default Email Address?

Hi Gary, Thanks for the reply.

I have realised what is going on....

I had to export/import all my accounts and messages to my new PC; Messages I
imported, that I reply to uses my default email account, replying to any new
messages will work as expected and use the email account associated with that
message.

So in time my problem will sort itself out!

Although, I must say I found the export/import system very poor when it
comes to handling many (14 in my case) email accounts. Each account has to be
exported and imported seperately and the messages are also handled separately
- very time consuming. I can see situations where this is actually very
helpful, but it would be nice if there were also a mirgrate system that
packaged up all accounts and messages in one file, this would make for a much
quicker and easier move.

Thanks again,
Gary

Re: Default Email Address?

The export/import process loses any special flags, and information
about which account downloaded the message.
