| | Can't open any email in WLMail (Version 2008 Build 12.0.1606) This just started today .. more than likely my fault someway but .. I can no longer open any mail in Windows Live Mail. Not just new mail but old mail stored in folders either. When I open an email ( by double clicking in the message list ) I get the top info but the message or attachments don't show up. When I place my cursor in the message area ( where I normally read the email ) I get a Windows hour glass that never goes away. I would be happy to get any suggestions to try to fix this. If all fails, can I un-install WLMail and re-install it with out losing all my folders and their contents? Thanks WldHogn |

The 'Complete' Uninstall/Reinstall Method For Windows Live Mail http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com...90CA!226.entry The above is to ensure a clean removal, vs saving anything and prepping the o/s for a true clean install of WLM Thus prior to using the above method, its appropriate to backup your contacts, messages and accounts. See Step 1 in the above link then click on the link 'export options'. | | Re: Can't open any email in WLMail (Version 2008 Build 12.0.1606) Winston: Just as a follow up on my original problem, I did a system restore back a couple of days when the Windows Live Mail was working properly and I got it back. I know now what caused it ( my best guess ): I was running a program called HighJackThis to see what was being loaded at start up on my system. Once you run it you can save the results in a log file and run that log file on a website and it will tell you if you have "possible" problems like spyware and other things. It color codes the "bad" ones in red and says if the log indicates there is "no file" with the entry you can delete it ( with all the normal warnings to check out things before you delete them). This is one of the entries it told me to delete: O18 - Protocol: wlmailhtml - {03C514A3-1EFB-4856-9F99-10D7BE1653C0} - (no file) I see by the wlmailhtml .. it has something to do with Windows Live Mail and more than likely was the cause of all this mess. Like I said, this is just a follow-up to let you know in case you see this again in another post. Thanks again for responding and your help.
