why do I have to be online to read email in WLM?

I just loaded WLM and my hotmail message downloaded but it says I have to be
online to view them. I only have limited access to the internet and it costs
me per minute. Is this a setting issue or is this a microsoft conspiracy?

Hotmail is a web based email site. You aren't hosting the files on your own computer, but on their server. In order to view them, you have to access their server, which, you need an internet connection for. If you want to be able to view email offline, you'll need a POP email account, using outlook or some similar email program that actually downloads the emails to your computer, not just views them online.

Re: why do I have to be online to read email in WLM?

I believe that you have "downloaded" the header, not the message. Then when
you try to view the message it has to connect to get the contents. This is
to save time when there are messages you are not interested in reading.

Cheers,

Earle

Re: why do I have to be online to read email in WLM?

Right click on each hotmail accounts inbox, select synchronization, download all messages..Repeat for other hotmail type accounts.
Send and receive
Then you can disconnect and work offline.
Graphics that reside on the server may appear as red x in the email message.
