| | Unable to save messages. I have asked this question before but haven't yet had a response that enabled me to save my emails into folder. I have tried dropping and dragging and using the edit/move to folder option but I always get 'and unknown error has occurred' and 'selected message could not be moved'. If anybody can help with a useful suggestion I would be more than grateful as I like WLM and would be reluctant to revert to either OE or TP. -- best wishes Bryan |

| | Re: Unable to save messages. Hi, Bryan. I've read this message and the prior thread you started back in May. I still don't see where you've ever told us some basic facts. Like: Are you running WinXP or Vista? I assume WinXP, since you mentioned OE, but you also mentioned "TP", which I don't recognize. What kind of email accounts are you using? POP3? IMAP? Hotmail? Something else? One Mail Account, or several? And you ARE talking about emails, right? NOT newsgroup posts, for which the rules are different. Have you created Storage Folders for your emails? Do you have many folders under "Mail Files", with subfolders under those, or are they all in the Mail Files folder? How do you have your Quick Views set up? These can be confusing at first. For example, an email received in the "BMail" account might be listed in the BMail Inbox, but it would also be shown in Quick Views | Unread e-mail, until you read it, at which time it would disappear from Unread but would still be in BMail, but no longer highlighted as Unread. If you try to move it from Unread to BMail, it won't work because it's already in BMail - and vice-versa. That's only one example; there could be several different of these "can't move it there because it's already there" scenarios. We can guess how you do all these things, but we'll probably guess wrong. It would be much better if you tell us, step by step, just how you are trying to move an email. Then we wouldn't have to assume that you are doing the same things in the same ways that we would do them: 1. Start WLM. 2. Wait for new mail to appear in Unread e-mail. 3. Read first message in Reading Pane. 4. Click "Move to", then Browse to Storage Folders | Mail Files | Family and press OK. Or: 4. Click on message in Message List and drag it to Storage Files | Mail Files | Boss. Or: 3. Click on Junk e-mail. 4. Drag'n'drop a message from Junk to Storage Folders | Deleted items. This long message could get a lot longer if I tried more guesses. So I'll just wait until you tell us HOW you are trying to "save my emails into folder". RC -- R. C. | | Re: Unable to save messages. Hi Bryan Its not clear to me whether the folders in which you want to file your mail are are set up within your Mail Account or within the the Storage Folders area. When I first used WLM I set up folders up within my main mail account. I had problems moving mail to those folders from main account Inbox and Sent, but not from other mail accounts Inboxes and Sent folders. So I moved the folders in which I wanted to file stuff into the Storage Folders area. Since then I have had no problem moving mail items, groups of items or folders themselves - mainly using drag and drop, but also using the context menu (right click). I think of Storage Folders as Filing Cabinet, unfortunately its not renameable. -- TUT "Understanding means seeing that the same thing said different ways is the same thing." - Ludwig Wittgenstein -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Bryan" <Bryan.Jones5@xxxxxx(nospam)internet.com> wrote in message news:maidnf_jp9oXcxvVnZ2dnUVZ8vudnZ2d@xxxxxx Quote: > Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply at such length to my query.
