| | Multiple Accounts - Use ONE Inbox? I imported a selection of email accounts from OE. Each one seems to have created its own separate Inbox, Drafts, Sent, etc. Can I get WLM to put the mail from all accounts in the default folders? I don't want to keep all these accounts separate - and anything I do want to separate I will do using filter rules. Managing 10 separate mail accounts like it is now would be a serious chore. Thanks, |

Because I don't use WLM for POP3 email, I don't miss the MSOE habit of dumping all email into one set of folders. However, that is the nature of WLM. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

| | Re: Multiple Accounts - Use ONE Inbox? Hi, Spencer. No, you just get several ways to see the SAME message. Read one message in Quick views, then delete it. It will also be deleted from whichever Inbox it was really in. Or delete it from that Inbox and it will disappear from Quick views, too. But, for a while at least, it will still be in that Account's Deleted items subfolder and can be read (and permanently deleted) from there. Other options abound, but the basic function is to give us several ways to access a message: The first way is the Inbox and other folders (Drafts, Sent items, Junk e-mail, Deleted items) within the Account where the message really belongs. IF we choose (right-click Quick views and click Select quick views...), we can also see the contents of All the Inboxes in Quick views. And then the message can be saved in one of the many subfolders under Storage Folders, again, IF we choose. Our choices can be made "manually" or by creating Mail Rules (or in Tools | Safety options...). It's the same original message, not a copy of it, but it can be viewed from multiple perspectives. The system makes sense, once we adjust our mindset for it. ;^} RC -- R. C. White, CPA San Marcos, TX rc@xxxxxx Microsoft Windows MVP (Running Windows Live Mail 2008 in Vista Ultimate x64 SP1) "D. | | Re: Multiple Accounts - Use ONE Inbox? The problem with moving messages with messages rules that are applied to incoming messages is it makes it hard to search through the folders and find the unread email. -- Ronald Sommer "R. C. Note everyone meets MS's implied definition of "one yahoo account, one hotmail account, and an ISP account". For those of use with lots of email accounts to fetch it's a useless product. You have to wonder where MS comes up with these solutions that are reverse evolution. Then again, half of Vista is reverse evolution and the removal of useful features, so I guess it's par for them these days. |

| | Re: Multiple Accounts - Use ONE Inbox? It certainly is different than OE..but there is some commonality to OE and OL when one considers the millions of OE capable http accounts still using WebDAV ie. For multiple Live ID accounts..it's no different than OE that creates a separate http account for each accessible Live ID(hotmail.com, msn.com, or live.com) and consistent with Outlook for http accounts or the Outlook Connector for http accounts. I've multiple accounts in WLM, don't particularly care for the Quick Views function and prefer to keep my mail separate for pop3 and http accounts.. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "+Bob+" <uctraing@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:35sk84lc5vt8bqteov156jpucfsph0irjo@xxxxxx Quote: > On Fri, 25 Jul 2008 10:15:45 -0500, "R.
