Will Windows Desktop Search index the contents of WLM?

It even has a button to open the file, and invoked MSOE6 when I clicked on
that button.

In Visa Ultimate x64 SP1, with all Updates, including "Windows Search 4.0
for Windows Vista x64-based Systems (KB940157)", installed 7/23/08, when I
press Start and type in "Spencer" (no quotes), I get a dozen or so hits,
including 7 from WLM's files - including this thread.

I've seen "Spencer" in a LOT more messages here than that! I'm not sure why
WS4 found just 7 of them.
Indexing options tells me, "348,704 items indexed; Indexing complete." In
Advanced, both .eml and .nws file types are set to "Index Properties Only"
and to use the "MIME Filter". (Those are the defaults; I didn't change
those yet, but I might change them later to "Index Properties and File
Contents".)

Hmmm... I just noticed something strange. I've included my entire H:\WLM
location, which is my Store Folder. When I look at that folder in a Command
Prompt , I see 11 files there, including Mail.MSMessageStore (862,666,752
bytes at the moment). But that is not included in my list of Indexed
Locations when I click Modify on the Indexing Options window. Ohh...
Nevermind. That is a FILE, not a FOLDER, so its contents are included under
the WLM folder without being separately listed. Duh!

So I'm back to wondering whether I will get more hits if I change the File
Types settings. But the answer to your specific question seems clearly to
be "Yes".

I changed the defaults under File Types to "Index Properties and File
Contents" for both .eml and .nws files. Indexing Options warned me that it
would have to Rebuild the whole Index, which would take a long time. I
said, "OK" and closed the window.

Now, a search for "Spencer" finds only 4 items, none of them in my WLM
store. Indexing Options says it has indexed only about 2,000 items and its
speed is reduced due to user activity.

So WS4 is apparently re-indexing my files, as promised, and I should be able
to do a more-complete search for "Spencer" tomorrow if I leave my computer
running overnight or for a few hours.

I'll try to remember to report back later.

C:\Documents and Settings\Spncer\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Storage Folders

Yes, this "Advanced" needs to be tweaked to include "Index Properties and
File Contents" for all text files -- including those in OE and WLM. But I
don't know how to do it.

The files in OE were automatically included -- but not those in WLM when I
installed it. Ay, there's the rub.

It does allow for configuring but we are still wrestling with some of the
practical details to catch everything.

I'd like to be able to catch all photo files too -- by name or subject line.

How do you get Copernic to find WLM eml files? I have Copernic and it only
shows OE mails from before I upgraded to WLM.
