| | WLMail problems with bigger attachments solved !!! I described mid of June in this discussion group (see «Mails with large attachments send again and again») the problems encountered with WLMail when I attempted to send mails with bigger attachments (~3.5 MB) with the my mailbox from Hotmail (problems appeared only in this combination). I had tried this way as I could not get an effective help from the support. Despite the of your numerous answers in order to help, the solution could not be found in the discussion group. So I went back to the official support, without success, but with many difficulties and many troubles. I delivered the log file from WLMail (with "some difficulties" in relation with the size of this file). One time I received an answer in Spanish even though my questions and explanations as well as the previous answers from the supports were in German !!! (as I live in Bavaria) An answer in French (my first language) could also be understood, but in Spanish not at all, … . As the problem was not solved I made new tests (beginning of June) in order to try to discover, may be, the potential origin. During these tests I discovered some "strange" points in the source code from the E-Mail which I had sent using WLMail. - One "item" about Kaspersky Anti-Virus in the top of the source code from a "normal" E-Mail, - 35 times the same "item" about Kaspersky Anti-Virus in the top of the source code from a "problem" E-Mail (attachment ~3.5 MB) when AV was activated (only for incoming E-Mails), - 4 times the same "item" about Kaspersky Anti-Virus in the top of the source code from a "problem" E-Mail (attachment ~3.5 MB) when AV was completely des-activated (all the AV protections) <> !!! ????? Quote: Quote: Quote: >>> the problem seems to be linked to the combination "WLMail + Hotmail + attachment > ~1.5 MB + Kasparsky Anti-Virus" August 5 I got an answer from Kaspersky where they apologized for the delay to answer and asked if my support request is still valid. Thus I tried one more time to send the E-Mail with an attachment of ~3.5 MB using WLMail, my Hotmail mailbox, with Kaspersky AV activated (only for incoming E-Mails) <<>> WLMail WORKED PROPERLY !!!!! No comment about Kaspersky Anti-Virus in the source code !!! Apparently Kaspersky has resolved this problem. I hope that this information found your interest. Kind regards, fred2stroke PS: I prefer clearly this type of support ! |

Was that not offered as a possible cure in the former thread you mentioned? In any case, I *never* install the AV email scanning module of an AV product. I use Avast on one computer, and AVG on several others. I *always* select "Custom Install", and decline the AV email scanning module. It is more trouble than it is worth, considering that the memory resident "On Access" component of the AV will alert on infected files if the operator tries to manipulate them. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

If you have followed this newsgroup for any length of time, you would know that the old-timers here recommend *not* using antivirus email scanning. | | Re: WLMail problems with bigger attachments solved !!! Hello Gary and Hello Norman, Even when the E-Mail scanning was completely des-activated I had encountered problems when I tried to send bigger attachments (only for WLMail + Hotmail mailbox). Even when the Kaspersky AV was completely des-activated (all the protections disabled / des-activated) I had encountered problems. I can not explain how but I detected it on the source code from the Mail I have sent when Kaspesky AV was completely disabled. Now, since the tests from yesterday, sending is completely "normal" and the E-Mail does not remain in the "out-box" and there is no "notice" in the source code. I expect that Kaspersky has changed the "program" of the anti-virus. kind regards, fre2stroke "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: Quote: > If you have followed this newsgroup for any length of time, you would know > that the old-timers here recommend *not* using antivirus email scanning. > The reasons for that are explained here: > http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm > > -- > Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) > > > "fred2stroke" <fred2stroke@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:C8E2E743-8283-43F0-9CAC-C62B66F5C6FA@xxxxxx Quote: > >I described mid of June in this discussion group (see «Mails with large > > attachments send again and again») the problems encountered with WLMail when > > I attempted to send mails with bigger attachments (~3.5 MB) with the my > > mailbox from Hotmail (problems appeared only in this combination). > > > > I had tried this way as I could not get an effective help from the support. > > Despite the of your numerous answers in order to help, the solution could > > not be found in the discussion group. > > > > So I went back to the official support, without success, but with many > > difficulties and many troubles. | | Re: WLMail problems with bigger attachments solved !!! It is true that some antivirus programs continue to interfere with email even when their email scanning function is turned off. Some of those antivirus programs allow you to do a 'custom' install, where one can elect to forego installing the problematic email scanning module. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "fred2stroke" <fred2stroke@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:80C44678-EDBB-4D17-A2FC-14E902DD3AFE@xxxxxx Quote: > Hello Gary and Hello Norman, > > Even when the E-Mail scanning was completely des-activated I had encountered > problems when I tried to send bigger attachments (only for WLMail + Hotmail > mailbox). > Even when the Kaspersky AV was completely des-activated (all the protections > disabled / des-activated) I had encountered problems. Both Avast, and AVG, which I use on some, or other, of my computers, allows the user to install the application *without* installing the email scanning module. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

| | Re: WLMail problems with bigger attachments solved !!! Thanks Gary and Norman for your advices. This could be some thing to be tested (not install e-mail scanning), especially as I HAVE AGAIN PROBLEMS with bigger attachments. Perhaps with my laptop before to install WLMail for testing. I am not at all favourable to inform the support about the code of my Hotmail account (as requested again), I think that its much better to make tests my self !!! Never the less it is strange that problems with bigger attachments appear ONLY FOR THE COMBINATION WLMail + HOTMAIL and not at all for WLMail + IMAP nor for OE + Hotmail. Regards fred2stroke "N. | | Re: WLMail problems with bigger attachments solved !!! I suggest that as a quick test you uninstall your antivirus, reboot, then try sending email with an attachment. If that fixes the problem, reinstall the antivirus without its email scanning module. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "fred2stroke" <fred2stroke@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:CEB6A46C-318F-43B2-A59B-344659D82C11@xxxxxx Quote: > Thanks Gary and Norman for your advices. > > This could be some thing to be tested (not install e-mail scanning), > especially as I HAVE AGAIN PROBLEMS with bigger attachments. > Perhaps with my laptop before to install WLMail for testing. > > I am not at all favourable to inform the support about the code of my > Hotmail account (as requested again), I think that its much better to make > tests my self !!! > > Never the less it is strange that problems with bigger attachments appear > ONLY FOR THE COMBINATION WLMail + HOTMAIL and not at all for WLMail + IMAP > nor for OE + Hotmail. > > Regards > > fred2stroke > > > "N.
