Ouch! - Users Beware

My email server (beeb.net) of some 10 years has now closed down

i have opened a new account (Live.co.uk) & deleted the expired email account
(pointless to keep polling it)

but unlike O/Express, Live mail desktop deleted all the emails as well (10
years of them)

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Luckily the majority were still on Vista Mail

I say luckily because otherwise i would have had to go and kill everyone

Other users beware of this ridiculous oversight

Re: Ouch! - Users Beware

You left ten years of emails in your Inbox? Most normal users would have
copied them to Storage Folders. Do not create additional folders under your
email account to store messages permanently. You have seen what happens.
Yes this is different behavior from OE.

I imported a wad of email from MS Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail
desktop (yes, that is how long it has been; the "desktop" was dropped from
from the application name about two versions ago!) But most of that email
had already been in local storage folders *before* the update. I've long
tried to keep my Inbox as close to empty as possible; especially WRT MSOE,
which has an extremely delicate storage structure, highly subject to
corruption, and loss.

(I actually don't have much current email in MSOE, having switched to
Pegasus Mail years ago.)

Re: Ouch! - Users Beware

Http and Imap accounts retain messages on the server delivering mail to WLM until deleted.

Pop3 accounts do not..
Removal of a Pop3 account provides this message..
