| | Restrict Send/Receive to Manually Only I use Mailwasher Pro to screen my messages and wish to prevent Live Mail from reading and sending automatically. I have unchecked Send and Receive messages at start-up and also Check for New Messages every ... under tools, options general, yet send/ receive still occurs automatically. I'm open to suggestions including registry changes if necessary. Windows XP SP3, updates current Live Mail Version 2008(Build 12.0.1606) |

Under what conditions? Try using Work Offline? Are you using its Login to Windows Live feature? There is some kind of timer associated with it for sure. Use the troubleshooting log to get some specific clues. Unfortunately I don't think that tool gives as many details as we really need to understand why WLMail does what it does. In any case another diagnostic you could use to supplement it is ProcMon, especially if your symptom is easily reproduced. | | Re: Restrict Send/Receive to Manually Only I've had it happen to a POP3 account ( I don’t have any IMAP or HTTP accounts). Once in a while (hasn't happened often - averages maybe once or twice a month) while working in newsgroups, my POP3 mail will download. In Tools, Options, General, I do NOT have check for messages enabled. I'm not sure what exactly triggers it. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Gary VanderMolen" <Gary@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:ebvuCB3#IHA.1296@xxxxxx Quote: > Can you confirm that the unwanted syncs happen only in non-POP > accounts? > > -- > Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) > > > "Norm" <nsepp@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:%23BwTEz0%23IHA.6132@xxxxxx Quote: >> Thanks ...winston. | | Re: Restrict Send/Receive to Manually Only Do you have "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing" selected on the account properties General tab? If so, how do you go about synchronizing without that triggering a mail download? How do you normally download messages - just click on the button, or do you select the account from the dropdown? As far as I can see, the send/receive mechanisms are common to mail and news. -- Noel "Michael Santovec" <michael_santovec@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23KOlgN%23%23IHA.1628@xxxxxx Quote: > I've had it happen to a POP3 account ( I don’t have any IMAP or > HTTP accounts). > > Once in a while (hasn't happened often - averages maybe once or > twice a month) while working in newsgroups, my POP3 mail will > download.
