Vista - WLM crashes when opening new mail

Hi,

I have WLM 12.0.1606 and very frequently when I try to open new mail WLM
crashes. It tries to open the new messages, but when it is retrieving the
content, the whole program simply crashes.
Anybody else having this problem? I'm using Windows XP Professional SP 2 on
an office network.

Is this with a POP3, IMAP or HTTP (Hotmail) account?

It's important to know the Details. When you get "encountered a
problem" message, there is usually a "click here" link to see the error
report. When you click on the link, it will give a message that will
list the Appname XXXX and Modname YYYY. The XXXX and YYYY are important
to identify the cause and solution. You can ignore the rest of the
message.

Is your anti-virus set to scan e-mail? If so, disable that feature.

With some anti-virus (and anti-spam) programs, simply disabling the
e-mail scanning function doesn't really disable it. It simply tells the
program not to flag any messages. It still processes all the messages
and may still cause send/receive problems. What you may need to do is
uninstall the anti-virus program, then reinstall it using a custom
install option and unselect the e-mail scanning component for
installation.
