searches

Hi

In OE when searching in newsgroups you can specify whether to search by
subject, from, or message body.

In WLM, the only search function that I can see is the "Find a message"
dialogue box above the list of messages, and that doesn't seem to ask what
ylou want to search.

Is there any way of doing this?

Thanks

There are two search functions in WLMail: the Find a message word
wheel you have discovered, and Edit > Find (Ctrl-Shift-F). In the
Find db you can specify header fields (From, Subject etc) to be
searched. The word wheel works differently; when fully configured,
you can start typing the search term and the list of matching
results gets shorter the more you type, until you find what you're
looking for. You can then use the column headings in the Message
list to sort the results in a meaningful way.
'Fully configured' means that (on Vista) Windows Search is set up to
index your Store folder, and on XP that you have Windows Desktop
Search 3.01 or Windows Search 4.0 installed and, again, set up to
index your Store folder. Otherwise, search will not look at the
message body. [Tools >] Options > Advanced > Maintenance > Store
folder will tell you where it's located.

Once you get it working properly, Find a message is lightning fast
and efficient.
