| Guest | Unable to delete multiple 'Statement of fees 2008/09' Spam from in Hi, I have approx 25 emails from different senders with 'Statement of fees 2008/09' as the subject. I have tried to delete them, and just get 'an unknown error has occurred' and then a 'Deleteing messages..' Dialog box which cannot be closed and just sits there doing nothing. I have tried opening one, but get the same message... Any Ideas please??? Paul |

| Guest | Re: Unable to delete multiple 'Statement of fees 2008/09' Spam from in Hi Paul. Are you seeing this problem only in your Quick views? If so, it would appear that your Quick views have broken. The Quick views will break in the current version of WLMail (12.0.1606) if any folder is deleted (in an Account or under Storage folders), if a Feed is deleted, or if one un-subscribes from a Newsgroup. Repairing your Quick views should fix the problem you are experiencing. To repair the broken Quick views, delete the registry Value "SearchFolderVersion" under the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail. This will cause WLMail to rebuild its Quick view data store when it is next started. If you are unsure about editing the registry, you could simply use PaulM's script, which will do the job no hassles. I have examined and tested it, and found that it works well and is safe. The download for his script can be found at http://www.paulsxp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=101 -- Cheers, Peter (Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "Bartman" <Bartman@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:E18BC9B3-D47F-4280-BE3C-3E3C9E60F9F4@xxxxxx

| Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Unable to delete multiple 'Statement of fees 2008/09' Spam from in Hi Peter, Do you think this would show as 25 messages from different senders with the same heading ( and possibly contents) ? Sounds like a spam attack don't you think ? SIW2 |

| Guest | Re: Unable to delete multiple 'Statement of fees 2008/09' Spam from in Yes of course it is a spam attack SIW2. But since the spam messages cannot be opened or deleted, I suspect that the spam messages were already automatically deleted. Especially if the setting has been checked at: Tools->Safety options...->Permanently delete suspected junk email.... Thus, I was addressing the issue of the inability to read and or delete them, not the spam issue itself. When the Quick views are broken, one symptom that is often evident is the appearance of messages (usually unread), in the message list of the Quick views, that have already been deleted. Such phantom messages cannot be read or deleted, but disappear when the Quick views are repaired. That is why I asked about the Quick views. If the problem is not related to the Quick views, the OP will advise us, and we can go from there. This does not at all detract from your sound advice about running a scan for virus/spyware. -- Cheers, Peter (Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with Windows Live Mail 12.0.1606) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "SIW2" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:f6b89195c3589427b0b6f1cff8d9b74d@xxxxxx-gateway.com...

| Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Unable to delete multiple 'Statement of fees 2008/09' Spam from in Hi Peter, Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if malware could have caused the Quick link problem you mention, but I see from "The Quick views will break in the current version of WLMail (12.0.1606) if any folder is deleted (in an Account or under Storage folders), if a Feed is deleted, or if one un-subscribes from a Newsgroup." that it is pretty delicate anyway. Just started using WLMail myself. Thanks SIW2 |

| Guest | Re: Unable to delete multiple 'Statement of fees 2008/09' Spam fro Peter, Thanks for your reply.. Unfortunately I don't have that registry Value in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail Key. I am experiencing the problem in my Inbox Folder as well as Quick Views. Subsequent Spam from the same source has appeared, and that can be deleted properly, it's just this odd 25 that refuse to budge.. TIA Paul "Peter.R" wrote:

| Guest | Re: Unable to delete multiple 'Statement of fees 2008/09' Spam fro The SearchFolderVersion key is in every WLM install. Deleting it manually or via the script with WLM closed will remove it Opening WLM will recreate the key and rebuild the data store on the next WLM opening. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Bartman" <Bartman@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:75E4912E-FD7C-4BC2-8428-81D344366275@xxxxxx

| Guest | Re: Unable to delete multiple 'Statement of fees 2008/09' Spam fro Winston, Of course you are right....I was looking for a subkey of "SearchFolderVersion" and didn't see the key looking back at me !! Anyway I closed WLM, went to regedit, deleted the key, closed regedit, and then opened WLM, and guess what...They were still there..still unable to do anything with them... in the end I deleted the account, and re-created it, and they have gone !! Thanks everyone who contributed... Paul "...winston" wrote:
