| | Re: Folder Pane Changes Do Not Stick Rich, you're quite right - the fact that Storage folders can't be re-located from the foot of the Folder pane is an irritation that's always been there, but might be corrected in the next version. I operate in much the same way as you, except that I use folders created under the topmost POP account to store messages in (see screenshot). There's no functional difference and it's much more convenient. The remaining accounts live in collapsed form below those user-created folders and are largely ignored. Every so often, I go through them and move Sent items to the appropriate folder. The current version does not allow for much in the way of customization, but again this may change with the next one. As regards the program glitches and other peculiarities, winston's site at http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com/ covers many of them. And you'll usually get sensible responses to queries in this group. -- Noel "Gary VanderMolen" <Gary@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uKBojCKDJHA.4436@xxxxxx Quote: > This issue is off-topic for the Windows Mail newsgroup. In your screenshot the folder labeled "Archive" is actually one of your e-mail servers with the filter folders created under that? That's clever, I hadn't thought of that since Live Mail automatically imported my filter folders as Storage folders. If I manually recreate the folders under my topmost server will the message rule send it to that folder (with the same name) even though it is not under Storage folders? I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tips. Rich |

| | Re: Folder Pane Changes Do Not Stick Archive, if I recall the pic and example, was for a separate email account(if the same as you've noted as email server). Do you wish to use a rule to move messages to subfolders in an email account used as an archive from the Storage Folders or other location or new delivered messages. For the latter, rules work on Pop3 accounts. To add to Noel's suggestion. Many isp's provide the ability to create a secondary pop3 account that can be used separately as that Archive folder(with or without use for email). Additionally, nothing prevents one from creating a dummy email account named 'Archive' with an invalid pop3/smtp server and disabling that account for a send/receipt. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Rich" <rgsrx@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uQI7X#UDJHA.232@xxxxxx Quote: > > "Ildhund" <jnllb@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23$FF51MDJHA.2480@xxxxxx Quote: >> Rich, you're quite right - the fact that Storage folders can't be >> re-located from the foot of the Folder pane is an irritation that's >> always been there, but might be corrected in the next version. >> I operate in much the same way as you, except that I use folders >> created under the topmost POP account to store messages in (see >> screenshot). I'll > give it a try. > Thanks for the tips. my real SMTP server. The e-mail address is the same as my default account. "Include this account when..." is deselected on the General tab of its Properties sheet. The folder called 'All' is a general repository for incoming mail that doesn't get diverted by rules to one of the other folders - that way all incoming mail ends up in one or other of those folders, so all junk lands in the junk folder you can see, and all deleted items are moved to the Archive one. I think you'll have to change the move-to folder in all your rules When you've got it all set up and are ready to remove the now-unused folders under Storage folders, remember that if you delete them, your Quick views will break. See http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com...90CA!205.entry for how to deal with this. -- Noel |
