WLM Processor Hog???

I'm experiencing hesitation in mouse response, and when I checked my Task
Manager I see WLM is consuming 98-100% of my CPU when open. Is this normal?

I am currently running an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 1.99GHz with 3 GB RAM, 160GB
HD. Will be upgrading processor to FX-60 and the internal HD to a 300GB
VelociRaptor.

Re: WLM Processor Hog???

It's NOT normal for WLM to use that much CPU on a continual basis.

Are you seeing a lot of disk activity at the same time?

What kind of mail accounts do you have? POP3, IMAP and/or HTTP?

How often is WLM set to check mail (Tools, Options, General)?

Is your anti-virus program set to scan e-mail?

You don't mention whether you are running Windows XP or Vista.

Increasing the amount of disk space won't improve performance. And if
other things run fine with WLM closed, you probably don't need a
processor upgrade.

Re: WLM Processor Hog???

Your box is more powerful than mine and WLM only consumes 8-10% of my
CPU resources when open.

Re: WLM Processor Hog???

Yes, there is continuous disk activity...it just seems to never shut up, LOL.

This only began the past 4 weeks, I switched to WLM late June.

I am on Windows XP Home.

I have 5 WLM accounts: (4) HTTP (1) POP3

I have my mail set to check every 5 minutes.

Based on earlier advice, I disabled the Norton360 email scan.

I also use MS Laser Mouse 600 which I know has driver issues which I have
addressed.

I've been computing since early TRS-80 and consider myself adept enough to
upgrade my PCs (this is my 4th PC) but, as they say, just when you know all
the answers they change the questions, LOL.

You guys are really terrific on this forum, appreciate the help.

Re: WLM Processor Hog???

5 minutes is a short time for checking 5 accounts.
Try 10 minutes.
