Importing from Outlook Express 6 to Vista

Have a new a computer with Vista and Windows Mail.
Have an old computer with Windows XP and Out Look Express 6.
How do I get my email message files from the old computer to the new one?
So far all I have managed to do is get the files (.pst) copied to a thumb drive.

Re: Importing from Outlook Express 6 to Vista

    Hi,

In Windows Mail, go to File -> Import -> Messages -> Microsoft Outlook Express 6 -> select Import Mail from an OE6 Store Directory -> then you should get a Browse button

    Also, see this

Migrate from Outlook Express to Windows Mail | Windows Vista for Beginners

    Hope that helps

Outlook Express cannot produce .pst files.
Only Outlook can. Review what you've got before making
plans to migrate to a new platform.

If you have a PST file you weren't using Outlook Express, you were using
    the Office Outlook program.

If you really were using Outlook Express, you need to be looking for DBX
    files.

Import messages into Windows Mail from Outlook Express:

Also, the Vista Windows Mail (WM) program is different than the Windows
    Live Mail (WLM) program.

For help with the Vista Windows Mail (WM) program, use this Newsgroup:
    news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...ows.vista.mail

You can also get to the newsgroup via this web site:
    http://www.microsoft.com/communities...s/default.mspx
There select Windows Vista, then Windows Mail.

    Hi

If you both Outlook and Outlook express , transfer to Outlook Express first, and then to WM or WLM. see

Go back to bed. Get up, once more. Look carefully at what you are using,
*AND* where you are posting. You have .pst files, so you don't have MS
Outlook Express, but rather MS Outlook. You have Windows Mail, not Windows
Live Mail, so you *should* be asking in the appropriate group:

    news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...ows.vista.mail

If I have missed something, it is because you failed to describe what you
are using with any degree of accuracy. But you are allowed to blame
Microsoft for this; they are the ones using such a screwball system of
    application nomenclature.

MS Outlook Express != MS Outlook
Windows Live Mail != Windows Mail

MS Outlook will run under Windows Vista.

Same 2 computers but new transfer problem.
Using Windows Easy Transfer to transfer files from old to new via USB external hard drive. Old computer (Windows XP) stores the files on ehd as Files/USMT2.UNC however new computer (Vista) apparently is looking for files to be stored in a SavedData.MIG file.

Then on the new i.e Vista computer, Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Windows Easy Transfer etc.
