| | What causes a quickview to refresh? Got a new e-mail. I looked at it in the Inbox of the account in which it was received (I have my accounts setup separately instead of pile all their e-mails into the global Inbox). After reading that e-mail, I deleted it. So not only was it read but also no longer in the Inbox. However, the "Unread e-mail" quickview did not get refresh to reflect the changes. When I went into that quickview folder, the e-mail was still listed and even showed in the preview pane. I then selected a different folder and reselected that quickview folder which then got it refreshed so the e-mail was no longer listed there. So in the Inbox of the account, I read and deleted an e-mail but the unread quickview still listed that e-mail. It wasn't until I visited the quickview folder, switched out to another folder, and switched back into that quickview folder when the message got removed from its list. Maybe I was just too fast. What prods the quickview folders to get updated? |

| | Re: What causes a quickview to refresh? Are you running the new Wave 3 beta? I don't have the persistent view in the "Unread e-mail" quick view, but I still have the old bug where the last message deleted in a folder still displays in the reading pane. One wonders what the Wave 3 developers did with all the bugs we submitted on build 12.00.1606 way back in November 2007... -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "VanguardLH" <V@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uszwBnQGJHA.1280@xxxxxx Quote: > Got a new e-mail. | | Re: What causes a quickview to refresh? Using verion 12.0.1606. I only had time one evening to glance at the beta version in a virtual machine but didn't go to do much with it. I wasted too much time finding bugs in WLMessenger beta. I did some searching and found that the quickviews can get screwed up if you delete folders, unsubscribe from a newsgroup, or basically do just about anything regarding maintenance of the organization of your folders. I did the trick of deleting the SeachVersion registry data item and that fixed the problem (except, like you say, the last selected item remains displayed in the preview pane after deleting the item). | | Re: What causes a quickview to refresh? Personally I would prefer if Microsoft would embrace "saved searches" instead of quickviews, the same as is available in Thunderbird. The *user* gets to pick which folders to include the search and under what criteria to include for items from those selected folders. For example, the "Unread e-mails" quickview is worthless and misleading because of some rules that I have that save *copies* of mails which ends up doubling the count in this quickview. I'd prefer an "Unread inbox" quickview that showed unread items in all inboxes. Letting the user define and save a search as a quickview would go a long ways towards letting the user configure just what kind of quickview they want. "Gary VanderMolen" wrote ...
