| | Problem with the latest version Hi. I use XP SP3. Everything was going perfectly well with my previous Windows Live Mail Beta but suddenly after I installed the new beta and after a while it started giving me the following message: Sorry. Something unexpected happened and Windows Live Mail must close. Your most recent changes may not be saved. What triggered the problem, might be that I tried to make Windows Live Mail the default email client in Internet Options. Dunno if it has anything to do with it. Microsoft people! Any help? |

| | Re: Problem with the latest version Actually, on the startup, although when I first made it the default email client, the program was already open and it crashed immediately. BTW: Thanks to Colin Brown in this post: Re: Windows Live Mail 14.0.5027.0908 (Beta) for posting a way to roll back to the previous stable version which actually works fine. PS. Out of curiosity - which font is the new default one? It's great! "Eyal [MSFT]" wrote: Quote: > Can you tell when you receive this message ? Is it on startup ? | | Re: Problem with the latest version The problem that you're facing is that we fail to load your Contacts. Here are steps that will allow you to start over: 1. Shutdown WL Mail (and other WL applications if running). 2. Rename this folder: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts 3. Restart WL Mail. See if it solves your problem. | | Re: Problem with the latest version I'm also experiencing this problem. Using Vista x64. The problem appears when I try to start the program. Renaming the contacts folder unfortunately did not work. "Eyal [MSFT]" wrote: Quote: > The problem that you're facing is that we fail to load your Contacts. | | Sorry, something unexpected happened and Windows Live Mail must cl Eyal, I wanted to report that I have been having the same problem and your solution did, in fact, work flawlessly. No more error messages for me. Many thanks! "Eyal [MSFT]" wrote: Quote: > The problem that you're facing is that we fail to load your Contacts. | | Re: Problem with the latest version Nevermind. Problem solved - my mistake. I was renaming the "Contacts" folder in the Windows Live Mail AppData, rather than the "Windows Live Contacts" folder... "PRC" wrote: Quote: > I'm also experiencing this problem. Using Vista x64. | | Re: Problem with the latest version I am having the same problem but do not really understand what you are saying I should do. You say Rename this folder: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts What do I name it? Sorry to be dumb. | | Re: Problem with the latest version It doesn't matter what you rename it to, just as long as you change the filename so that the software won't see the original folder name on your system. I'd suggest renaming the Windows Live Contacts folder to OLD_Windows_Live_Contacts so that it would be easy to remember what it was originally. | | Re: Problem with the latest version I'm trying this, but I don't have a C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts folder. It seems like Windows Live Mail is using my contacts off of Hotmail. There is a contacts folder called: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Contacts\<xxx@xxxxxx folder, which is mentioned in the registry as a Windows Live Contacts folder under HKLU\...\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\Database, but renaming this folder has no effect - the problem remains and when I open my contacts in WLM it still finds all the contacts. I am running the same WLM version mentioned below in Win XP SP3. Rhys "Eyal [MSFT]" wrote: Quote: > The problem that you're facing is that we fail to load your Contacts.
