Automatic sync of Live Calendar and Windows Calendar in Vista?

Is this possible? The new beta imports the Windows Calendar data on
installation but is there a way of maintaining syncronisation between then
two?

My phone syncs to Windows Calendar, which is useful - I'd like this to sync
to Live Calendar too. If it's not possible currently, are there any plans to
add this functionality?

Re: Automatic sync of Live Calendar and Windows Calendar in Vista?

I doubt it.

That's what Live Mail is for. Perhaps by the time Windows 7 is released
there will be a stand-alone calendar for synchronization, but I was pretty
sure bundled Windows applications such as Windows Vista Calendar never
receive feature updates, only major bug fixes and security patches?

Is that correct?

Both of you are correct. WL Mail only imports data from Win Calendar on
first-run, and doesn't continue to keep 2-way sync between the two
applications.
There is no plan to add this in the future.

Re: Automatic sync of Live Calendar and Windows Calendar in Vista?

Hm, this sounds like a showstopper for me. How is this inteded to be used?
Using two calendars forever?
Using Live Calendar as a complete replacement for Windows Calendar should
definitely a focus for LC. And as eg. phone sync software uses Windows
Calenar, LC should be able to open local calendars r/w, not just import.

Wov, how very helpful. Agree you intend to replace Windows Calendar with the
Calendar in Live Mail, but till then, how the hell are we supposed to use
them? Import and Export everytime between Windows Calendar and Online Windows
Live Calendar?

Just saw the news on
http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=1285
Live Calendar will replace Windows Calendar in next Windows release, so we
probably will only need one calendar in the future.

Re: Automatic sync of Live Calendar and Windows Calendar in Vista?

There is a more detailed article about Windows 7 here:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-13860_3-10048142-56.html

I kind of like the idea of Windows 7 being a bare-bones OS, and you
flesh it out as desired with downloadable apps.
