Now (22 Sep) seeing a strange message when I try to start mail

Since Monday 22 Sep approx 9pm UK time, Windows Live Mail 14.0.5027.0908
running on XP Pro SP3: is now showing a message box:

Sorry, something unexpected occured and Windows Live Mail must close. Your
most recent changes may not be saved

Is anyone else seeing this?

Uninstalling and re-installing WLM has _NOT_ cured the problem.

The logs suggest there is some problem with the contacts.

Re: Now (22 Sep) seeing a strange message when I try to start mail

I can't comment on version 12. I've only been trying (and reinstalling)
Version 14 (WLM Wave 3 beta)

Re: Now (22 Sep) seeing a strange message when I try to start mail

If the last entry in the log is "[db] The Contacts Platform failed
to start, forcing Mail to shut
down", then Eyal's solution at
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...172eede81902a6
(rename the Windows Live Contacts folder with all Live apps closed)
will probably work, as you have discovered. After doing this once,
the problem hasn't occurred again for me.

[A tip: when an error occurs and you come here for help with it,
it's a good idea to be precise when giving the content of any error
message you get and of pertinent entries in the log. Someone's
probably seen the wording before and knows what to do about it.
'There is some problem with the contacts' doesn't tell anyone
anything much.]
