Is there any program available that does what Quote-Fix did for Outlook
Express? My specific objectives is to allow modification for the initial
header quote in replies I may write, and to allow for better management of
message level visibility.

No, I didn't even look to see if this was covered in a FAQ or whether there
is a thread in this group. Call me lazy, and you probably will.

Consider (Mozilla's) SeaMonkey, an excellent browser (very similar to
Firefox). Its built-in mail client does not suffer the quote problems
of Outlook-type mailers, and offers customization that may accommodate
your needs. Check into the Mozilla news forums for tips and answers to
your questions.

Thunderbird is the standalone Mozilla Foundation mail client, while
SeaMonkey integrates the process.
