    Re: Mark as read...

I believe the only two way's to do it is to select the messages you want to
mark as read & right click for the menu.
There is also 'catch up' off the Edit menu that will set everything in the
    group as read.

Hi. In Windows Live Mail I have the option to "mark as unread", how can I
mark a selected group of emails as read?

    Thanks.

Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Mail are not the same thing.
To add to the confusion, Microsoft has been changing those names.
The former is webmail accessed via a browser, while the latter is a
dedicated desktop email program. Questions about Windows Live Hotmail
should be posted to the newsgroup microsoft.public.msn.discussion .

Perhaps I'm posting in the wrong group because we're obviously not talking
about the same thing. None of the options you mentioned are available in
    Windows Live Mail (Hotmail).

Yes, there is another group for Hotmail questions..but to save you the trip, the response is posted in both.

In the Hotmail interface, select the message(s), then right click for the context menu, scroll to an select mark as read.(see
    attached pic).

Fyi...if the preview pane is enabled in the Hotmail UI, the message will be marked as read once viewed, if not, opening the message
    will mark it as read.

The Hotmail newsgroup can be accessed:
    Nntp:
    news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...msn.discussion

    Web-interface: Http

Simply select the messages, right-click on the selection, and click "Mark as
    read"

Winston, your screen shot looked very different from my view of Hotmail. I
finally found the option to upgrade to full version, which does have the
    right-click context menu you displayed.

I never even realized there was a different version.

    Thanks.
