Re: Remove from systray

Don't ever open the program?
Perhaps you should explain what you are trying to accomplish.

I just don't want unnecessary items in my systray.

If you right-click on it and deselect 'Hide window when minimized',
you'll get a button on your taskbar instead. You didn't mention
which OS you're using (always a good idea), but in XP you can
right-click on an empty bit of the taskbar and select Properties. On
the Taskbar tab, click Customize and choose 'Always hide' from the
dropdown next to Windows Live Mail. You can probably do something
similar in Vista.
Does either of these methods meet your requirements?

Re: Remove from systray

In Vista - right click taskbar - properties - notification area tab - check
hide inactive icons - customize - set all to hide
you will end up with a ''<" in the area, but no icons. This "," can be
toggled to show/no show icons.

Re: Remove from systray

The only way is to "Always hide" the Windows Live Mail icon.

To do this, right-click an empty spot on the "Notification Area"
(systray) and select the "Customize Notifications..." option (you
can also right-click the "Start" button, select Properties and on
the Taskbar tab click the "Customize" button).

Once opened, find "Windows Live Mail" and click it. Click the
down arrow and select "Always hide". Click the OK button, then
click the Cancel button.

Hi noel,

I am on vista.

I have hidden it, but I would like to get rid of it altogether. I hate
software that doesn't let you configure it the way you want to, for no
reasonable reason.

I hate applications that run without my knowing it. I'm not exactly certain
what it is you're trying to achieve - do you want the program to be running
without any indication of that fact in the UI? So you have to use Task
Manager (or whatever the equivalent is in Vista) to switch to it? What other
software do you have that you can configure to behave like that?

The program is running. I can see it in my taskbar, I don't need an icon as
well in the systray.

BTW I only use WLM for newsgroups not for mail
