Importing Messages From Earthlink Mail

I am switching from Earthlink Mail to Windows Live Mail. Is there any way to
import existing messages from Earthlink files to WinLive Storage files?

Re: Importing Messages From Earthlink Mail

WLM only has the ability to import from Exchange, Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail, and Windows Mail.

Re: Importing Messages From Earthlink Mail

By EarthLink Mail I assume you mean the web interface.
EarthLink email is also accessible via POP, so set up a POP3 account
in Windows Live Mail. Follow these instructions:

Re: Importing Messages From Earthlink Mail

Thank you. This will allow me to access Earthlink messages through Windows
Live Mail. Do you know what will happen to the previously received messages
I have filed in the Earthlink system after I TERMINATE EARTHLINK SERVICE. My
objective is to replace Earthlink POP3 service completely with Win Live Mail.
In other words, I would like to transfer stored Earthlink messages to the
Windows Live "Storage Folders"

Re: Importing Messages From Earthlink Mail

Thank you. I have never had any experience with Exchange, Outlook or Outlook
Express. I would like to transfer old Stored Earthlink Messages to WML. Do
you know of any way to transfer E-L messages to "Exchange, Outlook or Outlook
Express" I am not sure any of those systems installed on my computer.

Re: Importing Messages From Earthlink Mail

If Earthlink has an online folder system similar to Hotmail's, you cannot
directly download its contents into Windows Live Mail. This is more an
Earthlink customer support question, than something proper to this forum.

It is possible that if you move your Earthlink web interface messages to
your Earthlink Inbox, then you could download them directly from there using
a pop3 client. I don't know enough about the Earthlink web interface to be
able to say.

If Earthlink mail has the ability to move or copy messages to local storage
on your computer, you may be able to retrieve them from there also. Again,
a question for Earthlink customer support. While you are still a customer,
why not ask?

Re: Importing Messages From Earthlink Mail

Windows Live Mail (WLMail), or any POP client for that matter, can only
download from the Inbox folder of your online mail system (webmail).
I suppose your EarthLink webmail messages are stored in several folders
other than 'Inbox'. So, proceed as follows:

In WLMail, empty the Inbox of that account by moving its contents elsewhere.
Close WLMail. Then login at EarthLink webmail, empty its Inbox, then move all
the messages from one of the folders to the Inbox folder. Close webmail and
open WLMail. WLMail should then download all the messages you just moved
in webmail. Create a new folder in WLMail, move the newly downloaded
messages there. Repeat the above procedure for as many folders as you have.
