| | Re: windows live mail start up No. The password request you see when WLM starts up is not meant to control access. It is a Live ID login that makes syncing with the contacts in a Hotmail account possible. If you have privacy concerns, use a password protected Windows user account, and when you are finished using the computer, press Winkey+L. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Janio" <Janio@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:344CF5A8-00C3-4FE5-B60A-B6B72C3BCEE8@xxxxxx Quote: >I have 4 e-mails account that I check with WLM, every time I opem WLM it ask > me for password, its ok, but even if a click cancel he still open and showing > all my accounts. > Its any way of to set this up for do not let it open if I do not enter a > password? > > thanks for your haelp. > JMO |

| XP SP3 | Re: windows live mail start up I was running Windows Live Mail 14 fine, but then clicked 'sign in' (in the top right corner) - now it always prompts me for Windows Live password everytime I open WLM. I dont have one and dont want one - how do I stop it prompting me for one? Thanks |

| | Re: windows live mail start up Many don't use a Live ID at signon and certainly that is your preference. When not using a Live ID at signon WLM uses the 'Default Contacts'. If you do use all the available contact fields in WLM without a signon it may be important to recognize that all available fields for use in WLM's Contact manager(e.g. work email, other email) do not export or import to a csv file. Thus if you do have to import into the same system or another system at a later time, then those fields(and others not included in an import/export) will require reentry. The only way around this is use of a Live ID and exporting/importing the contacts in the web interface(contacts.live.com)which requires the use of a Live ID. Once the Contacts are in a Live ID and sync'd with WLM, the contact file(a single database file contact.edb) can then be copied to the Default Contact database store. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Floob" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:190186e720e815b8e1da4e0cbb8abbc4@xxxxxx-gateway.com...
