If referring to importing into WLM from Outlook.
Export the Outlook Address book as a csv file then import in to WLM.
Suggestion..if the Live ID is also capable of Hotmail access, import the csv file using the Hotmail web interface).
Close WLM, open WLM and signon with that same Live ID..the contacts will sync downward.

A WAB file would be from Outlook Express. Office Outlook 2002 would be
using a PST file for its contacts.
Which mail program were you using?
If you were actually using Office Outlook 2002, you need to export the
Contacts to CSV and then import that to WLM.

The OP says *wab file; that's an Outlook Express file.

Hi Michael,
I'm using Outlook 2002 and there's file called Gilles.wab. In Outlook 2002
there's no option to export to CSV unless I didn't do the procedure the right
way. The only other option I have is to export to a .pst file. Two
questions for you. Is there a calendar function and a task function in WLM
like in Outlook 2002?
Best regards.

When I try to import a *.wab file of address-book contacts from OE 6
into the WLM beta the following happens:
1. The file imports cleanly and all contacts in OE 6 are present.
2. I close WLM
3. The next time I open WLM beta the contacts are gone. I have zero
contacts.
Do I need to do something to *save* the contacts in WLM beta?

Export to csv is present in Outlook 2002.
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...CH011542541033
- this help is for importing to Google, but the export process to a csv file is the same.
http://www.digiportal.com/support/ch...moutlookxp.htm
- another step by step
The calendar function is being beta tested. It is not as powerful or flexible as Outlook's calendar nor would one expect it to be a
complete substitute. To use the Live Calendar beta, one must have a Live ID and install both betas(Windows Live Mail and Windows
Live Calendar). If you wish to use the beta Calendar in Outlook one needs Outlook 2003 or 2007 and also the beta version of the
Outlook Connector.
ie....not the best environment for managing Calendar data at this time(requires 2 betas or 3 beta and a newer version of Office).

The Gilles.wab would have been left over from an installation of Outlook
Express. Your Outlook 2002 would Not have been using the Gilles.wab
file and the Gilles.wab may or may not have any contacts in it.
For your other questions, see Winston's reply.

Does anyone have insights into this and perhaps a solution?
