| | How to change WLM Default... Hi! I'd been using web interface for my MS' mail IDs before I install the WL mail pack. At that time, when I click the mail icon on the WL messenger then the web page shown automatically and not required to enter password again (of coz' the WL messenger login done) & I can handle multi IDs linked w/o re-enter password too. I love this function most, likely it's the WLM unique? But now, it linked to WL mail client & required re-enter password for every ID that are unnecessary, inconvience & disturbing... Can I change it back to the web interface as default when I click the mail icon on WL Messenger? Or the only way that not to use WL Mail as a default mail client? Moreover, I found it's not secure enough even it required password at every login for new mail, but the WL Mail still open & the old downloaded mails can be read w/o password. Of coz' I don't want to save the passwords permanently in the program, I preferred one login for multiple IDs as same as web interface for degree of security enough. -- CKKwok |

How about starting over with some common terms What are MS mail ID's Is the WL mail pack = Windows Live Mail(WLM) Is WLM = Windows Live Mail or Windows Live Messenger(WLMsgr) If you wish security, logoff of Windows and ensure Windows has a password requiring logon to prevent unauthorized access to your Windows profile and WLM email. - Logon with a password in Windows Live Mail(WLM) only provides access to other Live services for that same logged on Live ID(e.g. Contacts, display picture). -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "CKK" <CKK@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:BCA1A4FE-960F-419A-8DF3-307A9FD7983A@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi! > I'd been using web interface for my MS' mail IDs before I install the WL > mail pack. Quote: > I love this function most, likely it's the WLM unique? Windows Live Hotmail checks, if Windows Live Mail is either not installed, or not signing in to a Windows Live ID. Not sure which. But I am reasonably certain that once you set Windows Live Mail to sign in with a Windows Live ID, it becomes the client invoked by Windows Live Messenger. Click on the "Stop signing in" button. This will completely bypass the Windows Live sign in action, and Windows Live Mail will just start normally. When you click on the Mail icon in Windows Live Messenger, one of two things will happen: If you sign in with a Windows Live account ('hotmail.com', 'live.com', or 'msn.com' domain), MS Internet Explorer will be invoked, and log you in to your Windows Live email account in the appropriate domain. If you sign in with a Windows Live ID outside of the Windows Live domains, Windows Live Messenger will invoke your default email client (at least it started Pegasus Mail in my case). It will open the email for the accounts set up for the Windows User account you used when you started your computer. *Any* user who accesses that computer user account will have access to *all* files on the computer which are given the permissions of that user account. That is the nature of Windows XP or Windows Vista. If you don't want others to access your files, set up a user account with a password, and don't share the password. You can either log out, when you leave the computer, or you can use the "Windows Key + L Key" to lock others out of access to the computer. If you share the computer, but don't want to share your files, or applications, and application data, you must create separate User Accounts, with passwords, for each person you share the computer with. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |
