| | maximum Message store size What is the maximum Message Store size for Windows Live Mail? I have seen the max .pst file sizes published for Outlook and was looking for something similar in Windows Live Mail. -- Joe Germanoski MCSE, MCP+I joegerm@xxxxxx |

| | Re: maximum Message store size Unlike Outlook or even Outlook Express, each message is a separate operating system file (*.EML for mail and *.NWS for news posts). So you don't run into some of the issues of those programs. There is Mail.MSMessageStore file that is an index to the messages and can get large, but no where near the size of the Outlook PST or Outlook Express DBX files. Every 100 closings of WLM you will be prompted to clean up which will reduce the size of this file. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Joe Germanoski" <joegerm@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OEgOnyTOJHA.4672@xxxxxx Quote: > What is the maximum Message Store size for Windows Live Mail? | | Re: maximum Message store size Sometimes.. ![]() If you're predominant use of WLM is mail and news vs. Outlook(mail only) for those same email accounts..WLM can grow at a much faster clip than Outlook's pst. My compacted WLM Mail.MSMessageStore is 6 times larger than my compacted Outlook 2007 pst file(s)[includes Archive pst] for those same email accounts(pop3 and http). Size is also subject to user management(delete, archive elsewhere/delete). -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Michael Santovec" <michael_santovec@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:eBRK7WXOJHA.4116@xxxxxx Quote: > Unlike Outlook or even Outlook Express, each message is a separate operating system file (*.EML for mail and *.NWS for news > posts). > > So you don't run into some of the issues of those programs. > > There is Mail.MSMessageStore file that is an index to the messages and can get large, but no where near the size of the Outlook > PST or Outlook Express DBX files. | | Re: maximum Message store size A number of things would come into play. The WLM Mail.MSMessageStore also has the list of news groups on all the news servers that you use. So if you access several news servers with tens of thousands of newsgroups, that will have an impact. On the other hand, if you tend to keep messages with large attachments, the WLM Mail.MSMessageStore won't be impacted by that whereas your Outlook PST (or OE DBX) file would be. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "...winston" <winstonmvp@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:eN4g4PYOJHA.2912@xxxxxx Quote: > Sometimes.. ![]() > If you're predominant use of WLM is mail and news vs. Outlook(mail > only) for those same email accounts..WLM can grow at a much faster > clip than Outlook's pst.
