| | seeing pictures in email I am using Vista, and Windows Mail. Most emails have a bar at the top "Some pictures have been blocked to help prevent the sender from identifying your computer. Click here to download pictures". I generally click anyway, as the emails are from reputable sources. How do I make this bar disappear, and allow pictures to download automatically? |

| | Re: seeing pictures in email This newsgroup is actually for Windows Live Mail Beta, but the steps for resolving your issue will be similar in Windows Mail. Open the Menu Tools -> Safety Options -> Security Tab. In here you will see a section for Download Images. There are 2 options in here. If you always want to download pictures - clear the checkbox that says "Block images and other external content in HTML e-mail." However, I would recommend leaving this checked, and leaving the sub option checked: "Show images and external content sent from e-mail addresses in my safe senders list." When you receive and email from a sender that you always want to display images from, add them to the safe senders list. This can be accomplished by right-clicking on the received message, Go to the Junk e-mail menu item, and select "add to safe senders list". - Mitch Dawson [MSFT] "Best" <doyucare@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:#X1ov#dOJHA.4304@xxxxxx Quote: > I am using Vista, and Windows Mail. | | Re: seeing pictures in email Make sure attachments and images are enabled: Tools, Options, Security, uncheck "Block images..." and also uncheck "Do not allow attachments..." Also, go to Tools, Options, Read, and uncheck "Read all messages in plain text". Note: Questions pertaining to Windows Mail should be posted to its dedicated newsgroup: microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Best" <doyucare@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23X1ov%23dOJHA.4304@xxxxxx Quote: >I am using Vista, and Windows Mail. | | Re: seeing pictures in email Microsoft has designated WLM as a 'replacement' for Windows Mail. All development work on Windows Mail was stopped around October 2006. The team that worked on Windows Mail was shifted to Windows Live Mail. Draw your own conclusions. ;-) -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Best" <doyucare@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%233Zm6ueOJHA.4576@xxxxxx Quote: > Thanks to both of you & for answers. | | Re: seeing pictures in email Sort of. Microsoft is no longer doing any significant development on Vista Windows Mail (WM). As long as Vista is supported there will be security updates and some possible minor other updates. Microsoft's preferred free mail client for Vista and XP is WLM. That's where their development is centered. As long as you continue to use Vista and are happy with the WM features, there's no need for you to move to WLM. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Best" <doyucare@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:#3Zm6ueOJHA.4576@xxxxxx Quote: > Thanks to both of you & for answers. | | Re: seeing pictures in email The main advantage to WLM is support for Hotmail HTTP access, which WM lacks. Some other features of WLM that you may or may not be interested in - Photo mail - the full size image is uploaded to a Microsoft server (for 30 days) and a small version is included in the actual e-mail making for a small message. Recipients can click on the small version to download the full size one - Calendar - in the works in the current beta Some advantages of WM - It uses the Vista contacts which integrates better with some other Vista applications. WLM uses its own private contacts (although connected to Hotmail if you use Hotmail) - If you like to tweak HTML/stationery, WM does it much better than WLM allows. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Best" <doyucare@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:u0$$0GWPJHA.2316@xxxxxx Quote: > > "Michael Santovec" <michael_santovec@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:uSALxpfOJHA.1744@xxxxxx Quote: >> Sort of. >> >> Microsoft is no longer doing any significant development on Vista >> Windows Mail (WM). | | Re: seeing pictures in email Windows Mail does not have that sub-option for allowing images from the Safe Senders list. I recommend you upgrade to Windows Live Mail if that feature is important for you: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Best" <doyucare@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%232GYTs5PJHA.4680@xxxxxx Quote: > > "Mitch Dawson [MSFT]" <mdaws@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:16CF0395-D8CE-487D-A849-57EB602B7CC9@xxxxxx Quote: >> This newsgroup is actually for Windows Live Mail Beta, but the steps for resolving your issue will be similar in Windows Mail. >> >> Open the Menu Tools -> Safety Options -> Security Tab.
