Download all emails to my PC with WLM

Can windows live mail desktop download all my folders and emails to my
computer, so I can read all my emails and for my future reference, without
being connected to the internet?
If yes, how? What are the steps? Any tutorials?
Thank you and much appreciated.

RE: Download all emails to my PC with WLM

P.S. I really want to download all my emails into my PC and save them into a
CD. I have thousands of emails that I want to burn them into a CD so it can
be portable without being connected to the internet and at all.

Will I need to download them first, then when I burn the emails into a CD,
include the WLM program as well ? Will they be downloaded as .TXT format, or
will I have tor ely on the WLM in order to read my downloaded emails?

Thank you and much appreciated.

You need to explain what kind of account you are working with. How to do
what you want depends upon what kind of account (POP3, IMAP, HTTPMail) you
have.

Re: Download all emails to my PC with WLM

Thank you for your reply N. Miller.

For years I've been wanting to download all my hotmai l/ live emails and
store them into my PC. I also want to copy all my downloaded emails into a CD
/ DVD and put it in my Bank Safety Box, so for whatever reasons when I'm not
in this world, whoever goes into my Bank Safety Box will find this CD with
all my emails stored and be able to read all the emails from the CD, without
having to login into my account. (assuming that he/she/they wouldn't know my
password).

If that is possible, how can I do it?
Will the downloaded emails be stored as .txt format?
If not, will the person who got the CD / DVD with all my emails be able to
read the emails? Will the person needs to install any application like WLM or
WM to be able to read the emails stored in the CD / DVD ?

Thank you and much appreciated.

Re: Download all emails to my PC with WLM

Messages downloaded for a hotmail or pop3 email account are stored on the local machine in the user profile.
They are stored in text format using *.eml extension. The filename uses a numerical format for each email.
eg. 6D707F7D-00000013.eml

Note:
If you are using Vista, one has the ability to add the 'Subject' Field to Windows Explorer views

No protection is afforded by copying standard text messages(WLM email messages are such) to CD. All *.eml files can be opened by
any program capable of viewing standard txt files(e.g. Notepad, Word, WordPad, etc)
