| | Re: Can't retrieve my Hotmail Plus Pop3 Emails! Mcafee Total Protection, no nothing else was ever installed. I might have uninstalled and reinstalled the same application before, but if I did it's been such a long time ago I can't remember. It's always doing some kind of automatic updates and sometime times it requires that you reboot your computer. I have other applications running, but they don't have anything to do with email, like Spybot-SD, Windows Defender, Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard. They stay in memory and are running all the time, but I've always ran them for years with no problems, and I can send emails fine, it's just receiving. Thanks. | | Re: Can't retrieve my Hotmail Plus Pop3 Emails! Note: These settings are in the help files for Hotmail now, constituting official confirmation of the information pointed to below. Log in to http://mail.live.com, click the question mark in the upper right of the page below your name, select "Help", enter "pop3" in the Search box, select "How do I add my e-mail account to Microsoft Outlook Express?", select "Use a POP3 server to add your Windows Live Hotmail account to Outlook Express". Follow the directions. "Unable to read Winsock reply" and "TCP/IP error occured while trying to send data to the server" sound more like a server problem than incorrect settings. "A couple of weeks" to hear back from Customer Support for a paid account doesn't sound right either. Usually it's quicker than that. -- Earle Horton -- earleh@xxxxxx "PA Bear [MS MVP]" <PABearMVP@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23mcHSoUQJHA.1960@xxxxxx Quote: > Did you read the rest of my last reply? | | Re: Can't retrieve my Hotmail Plus Pop3 Emails! Well, it's been working fine for months and I haven't changed any software or the configuration. I just got two more emails back from MS with big long information of things to check, which kind of tells me that they have no idea what is wrong because they first emailed me and told me that they fixed it on there end and I shouldn't be having anymore problems. So I'm going to go through these emails and double check everything, but I don't see it being a problem on my end either.. Thanks... | | Re: Can't retrieve my Hotmail Plus Pop3 Emails! That sounds like a real drastic nightmare.. I'm hoping I don't have to do that.... Let me go through all of MS recommendations in the emails I just got a few minutes ago and take it from there.. But you are right and it might be what I have to do, but I don't want to go through all of that if that's not going to fix it and the problem is on there end. I don't understand why they said the problem is on there end if it's a problem on my side. It all doesn't make any sense to me. Thanks.. This is the reason why Alex fixed it and restore your capability to access your account in Windows Live Mail using the POP3 server. | | Re: Can't retrieve my Hotmail Plus Pop3 Emails! I upgraded WLM from version 2008 Build 12.0.1606 to 14.0.5027.0908 and I disabled my Mcafee firewall and Spam Filtering, etc. I checked all the Pop3 settings and they seem to be correct. I'm still having the same error message. MS had me create an email error log file and email it to them, so I did that and waiting for a reply. I'm not sure what else I can do except delete my acount and create it again, I don't see how that can fix the problem if the settings are correct, right? Thanks!
