Vista - Cannot view mails

I installed the beta messenger (something I'm beginning to regret, but more about that elsewhere), and of course the Live mail I am viewing changes too.
The new more formal layout is nice, however whenever I click on any email to view its contents, I get nothing. So I click on 'manage folders', or even junk to see what has arrived and suddenly that instance of iexplorer has lost connectin to the net. I can see the email headers - so that updates fine...

Looking into it, if i look at my mail through firefix, same problem. Good job i have safari - works fine there.

Any ideas please?
