Vista - Unchecking "Show Message Header"

Unchecking "Show Message Header"

Unchecking 'show message header in reading pane' does not get rid of the
message header. I hit apply, OK........but the message headers remain in all
the e-mails. I close WLM but the headers still show up again! It seems that
the apply and ok functions are disabled for this particular option.

Re: Unchecking "Show Message Header"

Amendment: The option to view message headers (or not) works in the 'pane'
view. But how to view messages in regular (non-pane) view is the question.
Is this possible?

Re: Unchecking "Show Message Header"

It sounds like you are confusing a few things.
The right side of a WLM screen has two panes, the message list pane,
and the reading pane (formerly called preview pane).
The "Show message header in the reading pane" option refers to the
upper portion of the reading pane. If you want, you can disable the
reading pane, and simply double click a message in the message list pane,
which causes the message to open in its own window.

Re: Unchecking "Show Message Header"

.... and to expand on what Gary wrote, the 'headers' referred to in
the View option are the From:, To:, Subject: and Date: headers only.
If you want to see *all* headers, select a message in the Message
list and press Ctrl-F3.

The 'All headers' option in a Message window applies only to Compose
windows, where it refers to the CC: and BCC: lines. The confusing
terminology doesn't make it easy to explain things, so I'm no surer
than Gary about what you're trying to achieve.

Re: Unchecking "Show Message Header"

We are trying to view ONLY the received message.......no headers at
all.......no preview pane. Maybe not possible?

Thanks,

Re: Unchecking "Show Message Header"

Did you not see my previous reply?
Simply double-click on a message in the message list pane
in order to have it open in its own window.
If you don't want to see that preview pane at all:
View, Layout, uncheck "Show the reading pane".

Re: Unchecking "Show Message Header"

I understand...but the issue is whether it is possible to view messages in
their own full window WITHOUT the HEADERS appearing in the message body
itself. (OE shows the headers in a seperate bar above the message).

Oreally

Re: Unchecking "Show Message Header"

Well, you could try Ctrl-F2, but I don't think you'll find the
result is what you expect although it is in fact what you're asking
for.

Re: Unchecking "Show Message Header"

No...the only items removable from a message in its own window are
a. Status bar
b. Some icons on the toolbar

More quirks from WLMail: it seems you have to have the Preview pane
showing before you are allowed to change whether you want to see
its header pane or not.

Also, are you signed in when you try to make that change?
Some things in WLMail only work when we are signed in.
FWIW this doesn't seem to be one of them...
