Hi

when I signed up for my Hotmail accounts a few years ago I saw a proviso
that I needed to access the account at least once a week to keep it alive,
if not it would be closed.

Now that I access it through Windows Live Mail on my PC and not the Web, do
I need to access it via the web regularly to keep it alive?

I've gone over a month between web access to an old Hotmail account. I've
accessed that account at least once a month with MS Outlook Express, and not
lost access to that account.

I was not aware that you could access free Hotmail with OE??

Outlook 2003 and 2007(not OE) can access free Hotmail accounts using the Outlook Connector.

Outlook Express(OE) can only access 'grandfathered' free Hotmail accounts. Grandfathering was available for a short period of time
and ceased a few years ago.

Only if you had ever used MSOE for access before Sept. 26, 2004, or whenever
it was that they cut off WebDAV access. My point was that client access is
sufficient to keep a Hotmail account active.
